La Cala Resort is renowned for its three golf courses designed by Cabell B. Robinson, other top sports amenities, a luxury hotel and a sumptuous spa. What is perhaps less known, at least among those not familiar with the resort, is that it offers exceptional culinary options, either a light meal before or after a round of golf, or a fine dining experience in a stunning setting and ambience.

Last week, a select group of journalists specialising in golf, leisure and gastronomy (including Andalucía Golf) were invited to see first-hand why La Cala is so much more than golf. During a special fam trip organised by the resort, the media representatives enjoyed a glass of cava in the hotel’s Naranjo lobby bar as they were welcomed by sales and marketing manager Noemí Román.

They then adjourned to the clubhouse restaurant El Laurel, where maître d’hôtel and food and beverage manager Francesc Hormigo was waiting with his team to offer an exquisite tasting menu created by executive chef Iván Álvarez Santamaría (both pictured below). During the lunch Noemí Román explained that the resort’s culinary options for hotel guests, golfers and visitors included La Terraza (international-style cuisine), El Laurel (modern and informal), La Taberna (specialising in tapas), and the Naranjo lobby bar and Limonada pool bar.

The journalists were also invited to check out the spa amenities, which include a health and wellness centre, hydrotherapy pool, exercise pool, jacuzzi, sauna, various treatment rooms, and relaxation and massage areas.
