The stunning Fairplay Golf & Spa Resort hosted, for the first time, one of the Andalucía Golf tournaments organised by the magazine of the same name. Located in Benalup municipality in Cadiz province – in the picturesque La Janda area, home of the “Ruta del Toro” (“Route of the Bull”) - Fairplay welcomed tournament participants over the past weekend. In addition to the golf course, they were able to enjoy the amenities of a five-star hotel and the resort's 2,000-square-metre-plus spa.

The recently renovated par-73 course is highlighted by incomparable natural beauty. Its 18 holes are surrounded by impressive Mediterranean vegetation composed mainly of olive trees, cork oaks, pines and lentisk; and its gentle terrain is ideal for golf.

Located a short distance from Benalup village, and for far from the beautiful town of Vejer de la Frontera, the golf course offers spectacular views over the popular La Janda lagoons and Alcornocales nature park, which includes one of Europe’s most attractive forests.

A shining sun and pleasant temperatures accompanied the players throughout the tournament, which ended with victory by Danielle Sostoen in category one (with 38 points) and Álvaro Clemares in the second category (37). Second in their respective categories were Francisco Funes and Elio Chianese; and third, José Javier Castillo and Dmitry Mushta. There were prizes for the top three finishers in each category, as well as for the scratch winner, Rachid Alaoui; closest to the pin, Fernando Costilla; and longest drives, Amelia do Nascimento and Elio Chianese.

Those who were not previously familiar with the course – most of the tournament participants, in fact – were extremely pleasantly surprised, highlighting the quality of the layout and its excellent presentation and condition.

The five-star hotel also received widespread praise, as well as the service and attention provided.

It was full weekend of fun but for many still too short - so they are already planning to return!
