Players were welcomed by sunny weather and a almost a windless day when they teed up at the magnificent Valle Romano Golf Resort (Estepona) in the eighth edition of the 2019 Andalucía Golf Challenge Destination Riviera Maya Golf Club Bahía Principe in Mexico Circuit.

Organised by Andalucía Golf/España Golf and sponsored by Riviera Maya Bahía Príncipe, Exxacon and Reale-Galpe, the tournament attracted both Spanish and foreign players — as is customary on the popular annual amateur circuit.

In addition to the prizes presented for each tournament (top-brand clothes from fairway+blue boutique, DO Somontano wines, sports equipment, etc.), the top five finishers in each category won places in the grand final of the circuit with a chance to opt for one of five trips to Riviera Maya that includes flights, hotel accommodation (in Luxury Bahia Principe Sian Ka’an *****) and golf at three extraordinary courses in the Mexican Caribbean: Riviera Maya Golf Club, El Camaleón Mayakoba (a US PGA Tour tournament venue) and Playa Paraiso.

The top finishers at San Roque in category one, obtaining a place for the grand final, were (in order): Serafín Linares García (42 puntos), Celia Nebot Lorente (39), Rolf Leuner (39), Víctor Naz (37) and Francisco Javier León Blanco.

In category two, the five making it to the grand final were: Eva Camacho Torrent (40 puntos), Diego Hidalgo Carrasco (37), Pedro Luis Gómez Martínez (36), Jose Lázaro López Carrillo (3& and Jaime Cervera Román (36).

The scratch winner was Marcos Lería (39), the special prize for nearest to the pin went to Rolf Leuner, and the prizes for longest drives were won by Celia Nebot and Marcus Dons.

The day of golf concluded at Valle Romano’s superb clubhouse with an excellent BBQ, prize-giving ceremony and gifts raffle.

Forthcoming events on the Andalucía Golf Challenge Destination Riviera Maya Golf Club Bahía Principe are 17 August at Flamingos and 24 August at La Reserva Club Sotogrande, with the grand final on 7 September at Alferini Villa Padierna.

DESTINATION “RIVIERA MAYA GOLF CLUB BAHÍA PRÍNCIPE” IN MEXICO

The 2019 Andalucía Golf Challenge Destination Riviera Maya Golf Club Bahia Principe in Mexico Circuit began on 10 April at Golf Santander (Madrid) and will conclude at La Reserva Club Sotogrande on 24 August. The grand final will be played on 7 September at Alferini (Villa Padierna Golf Resort).

The top five in each category and the scratch winner qualify for the grand final, which will decide the five winners of one-week all-inclusive trips to Riviera Maya Club Bahía Príncipe in Mexico. The top two in each category and the scratch winner in the Grand Final, to be held in September at Alferini, will travel to Riviera Maya.
