Los Arqueros provided a magnificent festival of golf for the fourth leg of the 2020 Andalucía Golf Challenge Destination Dominican Republic Ocean’s 4 Bahía Príncipe Circuit. Located in Benahavís municipality, and designed by the incomparable Severiano Ballesteros, this great Costa del Sol course was in exceptional condition, with its high level of maintenance enhanced by mild weather that accompanied the players throughout the day.

A team from HolaGolf, a program broadcast on Spanish television network Teleporte, recorded images of the tournament and conducted interviews with players, club director Antonio Lantero, circuit coordinator Luis Navarro and the councilor with responsibility for sports in Benahavís, Alonso Mena.

Organised by Andalucía Golf/España Golf magazine, the popular open amateur circuit is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, and – the same as with the past two editions – offers an exceptional grand final prize of five trips to the Caribbean provided by Piñero Group.

Apart from prizes for each tournament (premium-brand apparel from the fairway+blue boutique in Puerto Banús, DO Somontano wines, sports equipment from Holiday Golf, etc.), the top three finishers in each category plus the scratch winner obtain places in the circuit’s grand finale, with the chance of securing one of the five Dominican Republic holidays including flights, transfers, all-inclusive luxury hotel accommodation, and golf at three of the best courses in the Caribbean: Ocean's 4, Teeth of The Dog and Punta Espada.

The top three players in category one gaining grand final places were (in order): Inna Bladen (37 points), D’Anthes Georges Heeckeren (34) and Santiago Ríos Rubio (34).

Three women led the qualifying in category two: Carmen Domínguez González (39 points), Amelia do Nascimento Figueiredo (38) and Ana Isabel Irimia Diéguez (36). The best result in category two was achieved by María Kharchenko, with 39 points, but she is not entitled to a prize or to qualify for the grand final because she is still under-18, as reflected in the circuit’s regulations. The teenager is a local player making great progress with her golfing game, and she performed particularly well in this tournament.

The scratch winner was Philip Fisher with 34 points. As for the special prizes, closest to the pin was won by José Antonio Benítez Domínguez and longest drive went to Alejandro Fernández Blanco.

The next scheduled tournaments on the Andalucía Golf Challenge Destination Dominican Republic Ocean’s 4 Bahía Príncipe Circuit are 16 July at Valderrama, 25 July at Santa Clara Marbella and 29 July at San Roque New Course. Entries are now closed for the first tournament, but interested players can still sign up for the other two events.
