Villa Padierna Golf Club’s stunning Flamingos course once again hosted a leg of the Andalucía Golf Challenge Circuit, which this year celebrates its 10th anniversary and offers (as the main prizes) five week-long trips to the Dominican Republic including flights, transfers, all-inclusive five-star hotel accommodation and golf at three of the Caribbean’s finest courses: Ocean’s 4, Teeth of the Dog and Punta Espada.

This latest tournament as part of the popular amateur circuit organised by Andalucía Golf/España Golf magazine attracted 100 participants, representing several different nationalities. The day was sublime for a round of golf, with just a light breeze, all of which helped produce some excellent results. One of three courses at Villa Padierna Golf Club, managed by Pedro Morán Ronchel, Flamingos was in superb condition for play.

The tournament also marked the halfway stage of the 2020 Andalucía Golf Challenge-Destination Dominican Republic Ocean’s 4 Bahía Príncipe Circuit, with eight more tournaments scheduled before the grand final.

This year’s Circuit continues to register resoundingly successful levels of participation, with places available in most of the tournaments taken up by players well before their respective dates.

The same as with the past two editions, players are competing for an exceptional grand final prize of five trips to the Caribbean provided by Piñero Group.  Apart from prizes for each tournament (premium-brand apparel from the fairway+blue boutique in Puerto Banús, DO Somontano wines, sports equipment from Holiday Golf, etc.), the top three finishers in each category plus the scratch winner obtain places in the Circuit’s grand final (Atalaya Old, 21 November), with the chance of securing one of the five week-long Dominican Republic holidays.

As for the results, the top three players in category one winning places in the grand final were: Santiago Gutiérrez Gutiérrez (40 points), Feliciano García Barragán (39) and Asís Fernández de Córdova Allende (39).

In category two, the leading three (in order) were: Diego Garteizgogeascoa Bolland (51 points), Alberto Tellería Ramsdem (42) and Marcos Liva Sañudo (42).

The scratch winner was Mario García Garoz (36 points); while the special prizes went to Francisco José Jiménez Rodríguez (closest to the pin) and Blanca Rivollier and Daniel Barbero (longest drives).

The next scheduled tournaments on the Andalucía Golf Challenge Destination Dominican Republic Ocean’s 4 Bahía Príncipe Circuit are 22 August at La Reserva de Sotogrande, 25 August at Los Lagos de Mijas Golf and 29 August at  Finca Cortesín.
