La Reserva Club Sotogrande once again hugely impressed participants, who were able to enjoy a course in superb condition for the latest leg of the Andalucía Golf Challenge Circuit. This year is the Circuit’s 10th anniversary, with the grand final offering great prizes of five one-week trips to the Dominican Republic including flights, transfers, all-inclusive five-star hotel accommodation and golf at three of the best courses in the Caribbean: Ocean's 4, Teeth of The Dog and Punta Espada.

The magnificent Costa del Sol course, designed by renowned American golf architect Cabell B. Robinson, dazzled those who had not played it before and delighted others who were making a return visit. The spectacular state of the fairways and greens was well received by players, as well as the excellent snack served next to the attractive clubhouse between holes 9 and 10, which included a tasting of cheeses, Iberian sausages, fruits, tortilla, gazpacho, sandwiches, etc.

The same as with the past two editions, players are competing for an exceptional grand final prize of five trips to the Caribbean provided by Piñero Group.  Apart from prizes for each tournament (premium-brand apparel from the fairway+blue boutique in Puerto Banús, DO Somontano wines, sports equipment from Holiday Golf, etc.), the top three finishers in each category plus the scratch winner obtain places in the Circuit’s grand final (Atalaya Old, 21 November), with the chance of securing one of the five week-long Dominican Republic holidays.

The top three finishers in category one were Santiago Gutiérrez Gutiérrez (42 points), Luis Larrinaga de Luis (37) and Bruno Herrero Martí (35). As Santiago Gutiérrez had previously qualified for the grand final, the fourth leading player at La Reserva, José María Oriol Fabra (35) gained a place instead.

Leading the way in category two were: Jan Policki (38 points), Manuel Montes Aparicio (36) and Paul James Mercer (35).

The scratch winner was Santiago Gutiérrez Gutiérrez, with 32 points. As he had also qualified for the grand final, his place passed on to the next best scratch finisher, Enrique de Guzman Ochoa (30 points).

As for the special awards, closest to the pin went to Rafael de Mendizábal Castellanos, and longest drive to Carmen Domínguez Gonzalez and Enrique de Guzmán Ochoa.

The next scheduled tournaments on the Andalucía Golf Challenge Destination Dominican Republic Ocean’s 4 Bahía Príncipe Circuit are 25 August at Los Lagos (Mijas Golf)and 29 August at Finca Cortesín.
