Los Lagos, one of two exceptional courses designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones at Mijas Golf, has once again provided a brilliant setting for the Andalucía Golf Challenge Circuit. This year the Circuit is celebrating its 10th edition, and offering five grand final prizes of one-week trips to the Dominican Republic – including flights, transfers, five-star hotel accommodation on an all-inclusive basis and golf at three of the finest courses in the Caribbean: Ocean's 4, Teeth of The Dog and Punta Espada.

This spectacular course, where water plays a prominent role (hence its name, “The Lakes”), is one of the most popular on the Costa del Sol, among both Spanish and international golfers.

The 10th of 16 events making up the Circuit's schedule this year, the Los Lagos tournament registered a very high level of play and brought together many extremely low handicappers. The course was in extraordinary condition, and this was highly appreciated and celebrated by participants.

The same as with the past two editions, players are competing for an exceptional grand final prize of five trips to the Caribbean provided by Piñero Group.  Apart from prizes for each tournament (premium-brand apparel from the fairway+blue boutique in Puerto Banús, DO Somontano wines, sports equipment from Holiday Golf, etc.), the top three finishers in each category plus the scratch winner obtain places in the Circuit’s grand final (Atalaya Old, 21 November), with the chance of securing one of the five week-long Dominican Republic holidays.

The three top players in category one were David Gavira Jurado (43 points), Francisco Cuevas González (38) and Óscar Rodríguez Higuera (38).

Leading the way in category two were Antonio Fernández Martín (43 points), Álvaro Fernández Molina (40) and Jaime Sepúlveda Jiménez (39). The category two winner had actually enjoyed the trip to the Caribbean last year, on that occasion to Riviera Maya, but paid for his holiday as one of the players who took advantage of a limited number of packages organised for those who wanted to join the trip and enjoy the same experience as the five 2019 grand final winners. This time, Antonio Fernández will be trying to obtain one of the five prizes when the grand final is held on 21 November at Atalaya Old Course.

The scratch winner at Los Lagos was Gonzalo García Parada, with 40 points. As for the special prizes, closest to the pin went to Alejandro Carrere Lobera, and longest drive to Eva Nebot and Miguel Pérez Cruz.

The next scheduled tournament on the Andalucía Golf Challenge Destination Dominican Republic Ocean’s 4 Bahía Príncipe Circuit is 29 August at Finca Cortesín.
