Santa Clara Granada hosted a successful first event on the Andalucía Golf Challenge-Destination Dominican Republic Ocean’s 4 Bahía Príncipe Circuit, which this year is celebrating its 10th anniversary and is being played at several of Spain’s most renowned courses. The Circuit offers (as the main prizes) five week-long trips to the Dominican Republic including flights, transfers, all-inclusive five-star hotel accommodation and golf at three of the Caribbean’s finest courses: Ocean’s 4, Teeth of the Dog and Punta Espada.

This was Santa Clara Granada’s debut on the popular open amateur Circuit, organised by Andalucía Golf/España Golf magazine. Good weather accompanied a pleasant day of golf, involving 100 golfers in three-player groups. One of the highlights for those taking part was the excellent condition of the greens. After the competition, lunch was served on the spacious club terrace, with impeccable organisational planning and service to minimise health risks. This included distributing players at six-seater tables with their names clearly identified. A gift raffle was held after the prize presentation.

Apart from prizes for each tournament (premium-brand apparel from the fairway+blue boutique in Puerto Banús, DO Somontano wines, sports equipment from Holiday Golf, etc.), the top three finishers in each category plus the scratch winner obtain places in the Circuit’s grand final (Atalaya Old, 21 November), with the chance of securing one of the five week-long Dominican Republic holidays.

The top three players in category one were (in order) Eulogio Jesús García González (41 points), Rafael Leiva Jiménez (40) and Rafael Leiva Cascales (40).

Leading the way in category two, with 46 points, was Simón Brabant, followed by Julián Carlos Martín Rodríguez (45) and Amancio Martín Zayas (43).

The scratch winner was Borja García Osorio with 31 points. As for the special prizes, closest to the pin was won by Gregorio Salva Mercado, and longest drive went to Mercedes Sánchez Rovira and Elías Samuel del Pino Fernández.

The next scheduled tournament on the Andalucía Golf Challenge-Destination Dominican Republic Ocean’s 4 Bahía Príncipe Circuit is Chaparral Golf on 31 October.
