The “new” Alcaidesa Links course, which is scheduled to re-open in June following a major revamp involving slight but key modifications to the original design by Peter Allis and Clive Clark, will be the venue for the grand finale of the 12th Andalucía Golf Challenge-Destination Dominican Republic PGA Ocean’s 4 Bahía Príncipe Circuit – on 24 September.
The Circuit’s grand finale will decide the winners of five one-week, all-inclusive trips to the Bahía Príncipe Luxury Bouganville ***** hotel, with golf at the spectacular PGA Ocean’s 4, Teeth of the Dog and Punta Espada courses. The top two finishers in each category and the scratch winner of the final will travel to the Dominican Caribbean.
This 12th edition of this hugely popular open amateur circuit, organised by Andalucía Golf/España Golf magazine, comprises 28 tournaments plus the final. The Circuit will cover the Andalucian provinces of Málaga, Cádiz, Huelva, Almería, Sevilla and Granada, in addition to Madrid, Segovia and Salamanca, with most of the events being held on the Costa del Sol.
Access to the final will be direct for the winners of each category and the leading scratch player in all the qualifying tournaments, while the rest of the places in the final – up to 100 players – will be awarded based on the Benahavís Ranking, calculated from points obtained in each leg.
The Circuit is sponsored by THIRDHOME, MYHEDGEFUND, BAHÍA PRÍNCIPE, BENAHAVÍS and SANITAS and the main collaborators are Holiday Golf Estates, Fairway+blue, Marbella Town Hall and Bodega Laus. Cadena SER and Andalucía Golf/España Golf magazine are the Circuit's official media outlets.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Alcaidesa Links is the only links course in southern Europe. An 18-hole, par-72 course extending over 5,866 metres, it was designed by Peter Alliss and Clive Clark and inaugurated in 1992.
The topography at Alcaidesa is formed by gentle slopes descending towards the sea, finishing on a beautiful beach and creating a seafront of nearly two kilometres, so most of the holes run alongside the beach.
The course’s difficulty lies mainly in the condition of the prevailing winds. One of Alcaidesa Links’ special features which most impresses visitors is its spectacular views over the Mediterranean, Gibraltar and Africa.
In 2011 Alcaidesa Links was included by the prestigious Golf World magazine among the 20 best links courses on the European continent.
Many top tournaments have been played at Alcaidesa Links, including the 1993 and 1994 PGA of Andalucía, the 1995 PGA of Spain, and The Ryder Cup Junior Match US against Europe in 1997.
