The Technical Commission of Streets of the City Council of Malaga has decided to name with the name of. <\/span>“Golfer Miguel \u00c1ngel Jim\u00e9nez<\/em>“.<\/strong> to the <\/span>traffic circle located at the entrance of the Malaga Golf Parador,<\/strong> following the request made by the Board of Directors of the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation <\/span>Royal Andalusian Golf Federation<\/strong> made to the consistory last April to give the name of the professional golfer to a Malaga street, a proposal that was later joined by other institutions of the city and the world of golf.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is worth remembering that \u00c1ngel de la Riva<\/strong> -in his first appearance before the media after being re-elected President of the RFGA- announced this request to the City Council of M\u00e1laga, declaring that “Miguel \u00c1ngel Jim\u00e9nez is a source of pride for Andalusia and, especially, for M\u00e1laga, so we are going to request that a street be given to this great figure of our sport<\/em>“.<\/p>\n

Thus, the city of Malaga will recognize the brilliant professional career and the continuous work that the golfer does for his homeland, about which he has often said: “….The commitment to my land has always been there. I always say that I want to give back to golf everything it has given me, that’s why I try to work for and for golf in Andalusia, my home. <\/em>“.<\/p>\n

This new recognition will join the multiple distinctions that the Malaga native has already received, including Gold Medal of the Province of Malaga<\/strong> in 2014, ‘Malague\u00f1o del Siglo XXI’<\/strong> in 2007, Andalusian Medal for Sporting Merit<\/strong> in 2001, Gold Medal for Merit in Golf from the Royal Spanish Federation<\/strong> in 1999, and Medal for Merit in Golf from the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation<\/strong> in 1993.<\/p>\n

Now, his name will be forever linked to Malaga, in the traffic circle at the entrance to the Parador de Golf, a course where Miguel Angel Jimenez holds the record with 63 strokes, which earned him the victory during the PGA Turespa\u00f1a Masters of Golf in 1999.<\/p>\n

Considered one of the most charismatic players on the European Tour – where he has won 21 titles, 14 of them by the age of forty – the Malaga-born player has been a member of the European team<\/strong> four times in the Ryder Cup<\/strong>, contributing to Europe’s victory in 2004 and 2010.<\/p>\n

In addition, he served as vice-captain of the European team in 1997 under Severiano Ballesteros at Valderrama; in 2012 alongside Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Olaz\u00e1bal, when Europe staged the historic comeback at Medinah; and in 2014, at Gleneagles.<\/p>\n

On February 13, 2013, the golfer saw a dream come true with the inauguration of the “Miguel \u00c1ngel Jim\u00e9nez” Municipal Golf School<\/strong> in La Colina, in Torremolinos (M\u00e1laga), with a practice course and nine holes Pitch & Putt.<\/p>\n
