{"id":14698,"date":"2014-10-02T07:44:36","date_gmt":"2014-10-02T07:44:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/andaluciagolf.com\/the-rfga-requests-once-again-the-lowering-of-vat-for-the-golf-sector\/"},"modified":"2014-10-02T07:44:36","modified_gmt":"2014-10-02T07:44:36","slug":"the-rfga-requests-once-again-the-lowering-of-vat-for-the-golf-sector","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/andaluciagolf.com\/en\/the-rfga-requests-once-again-the-lowering-of-vat-for-the-golf-sector\/","title":{"rendered":"The RFGA requests once again the lowering of VAT for the golf sector."},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignleft size-full wp-image-2301\" src=\"https:\/\/andaluciagolf.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/GolfCourses_Baviera-Golf-MG_6298.jpg\" border=\"0\" style=\"float: left;margin-right:10px;\" width=\"700\" height=\"429\">The Royal Andalusian Golf Federation -represented by the Vocal of its Board of Directors and member of its Course Commercial Committee, Carlos Pitarch, and by its General Secretary and Manager,Miguel Navarro- insisted again last Tuesday, during a meeting held with Bego\u00f1a Hernando, Deputy Director General of Consumption Taxes, on the need to reinstate the reduced rate of 10% VAT for golf courses that, since the end of 2012, have suffered the consequences of the VAT increase to 21%.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\" style=\"text-align: left;\">They were joined by <strong>Gonzaga Escauriaza<\/strong>, President of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation; <strong>Arturo Bernal<\/strong>, Manager of the Costa del Sol Tourist Board; and <strong>Jorge Sagardoy<\/strong>, Director of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The objective of this meeting was to convey the concern of the golf sector, which &#8211; with approximately 100 courses in Andalusia, <strong>80 percent of which have a commercial profile &#8211;<\/strong> has seen how the increase in VAT over the last two years has further damaged its delicate situation, making it more difficult to overcome the crisis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\" style=\"text-align: left;\">While in 2011 golf courses were charged 8 percent VAT, only one year later &#8211; in 2012 &#8211; the tax for the golf sector tripled its value, as it was considered a sporting activity, and remained at 10 percent for the rest of the tourism sector.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\" style=\"text-align: left;\">From that moment, the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation, the Tourist Board of the Costa del Sol and the Royal Spanish Golf Federation joined forces to convey to the Public Administration the need to give the <strong>Golf Tourism Industry<\/strong> &#8211; in Andalusia, advertising emblem of our tourist destination &#8211; the consideration it deserves within our tax regulations, and therefore, to apply the same VAT as the rest of the tourism sector.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Back in September 2012, just two months after the VAT hike, <strong>Carlos Pitarch, Arturo Bernal and Gonzaga Escauriaza<\/strong> attended -together with other representatives of the golf sector- the first meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Finance, with the intention of making them aware of the tragic situation that the tax hike would bring to golf courses.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Since then, the fight to return the reduced VAT rate of 10% to golf courses has not ceased, offering to the Public Administration and the media contrasted data and reports on the economic reality of golf.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\" style=\"text-align: left;\">On April 22, <strong>Carlos Pitarch<\/strong> participated again &#8211;
