The year 2013 will not be easy to forget due to the numerous victories and good moments achieved by Andalusian golfers. Although 2013 once again brought <\/span>n<\/span>uring a complex economic situation that fully affected the golf industry, the extraordinary achievements of Andalusian sportsmen and women stood out in a season to remember.<\/span><\/p>\n

As in previous years, the Andalusian players, both professional and amateur, have shown that they know how to succeed, continuing a line of successes as a result of the work and quality they possess. <\/span><\/p>\n

Special mention to <\/span>Azahara Mu\u00f1oz <\/strong>for her decisive contribution to the European team’s historic victory over the North American team in the <\/span>Solheim Cup<\/strong>. Already in the amateur field, although just a few steps away from making the leap to professionalism, 2013 will be remembered for the definitive emergence of several Andalusian players who combine their studies at different universities in the United States with the practice of high-level golf. <\/span><\/p>\n

As a result, the Malague\u00f1as <\/span>Noemi Jimenez<\/strong> (first classified of the <\/span>Cal Classic<\/strong>) y <\/span>Rocio Sanchez<\/strong> (winner of the <\/span>Seminole Match Up<\/strong>) made their first appearance in the United States Collegiate League (NCAA).<\/span><\/p>\n

Likewise, in terms of collective competitions, the player from Cadiz also performed at a superlative level, contributing to the triumph of the Spanish team in the Lacoste 4 Nations. <\/span>Lacoste 4 Nations,<\/strong> and winning, together with <\/span>David Morago<\/strong>for the first time in history in the <\/span>Argentina Team International, XLII edition of the Tailhade Cup.<\/strong>. <\/span> <\/p>\n

Noemi Jimenez<\/strong> was one of the great bastions of Andalusian golf throughout the season. In addition to her splendid individual achievements in the NCAA, the Malaga golfer consolidated herself as a firm project for the future thanks to her sensational contributions to both the continental European team that won the traditional <\/span>Vagliano Trophy<\/strong>as well as the Spanish team that won the gold medal at the <\/span>Women’s Absolute European Championship<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, with respect to the World Ranking events, <\/span>Scott W. Fernandez <\/strong>won his first victory of the year in the Canarian <\/span>Canary Islands Championship; Mario Galiano <\/strong>added to his list of winners with the<\/span> Balearic Cup; <\/strong>y<\/span> Ana Pel\u00e1ez <\/strong>crowned herself in the inaugural edition of the <\/span>Andalusia Women’s Cup<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Finally, in the <\/span>National Junior Scorers<\/strong>the young values of Andalusian golf shone with their own light, highlighting the first places of Juan Manuel Due\u00f1as, from Cordoba <\/span>Juan Manuel Due\u00f1as <\/strong>and the Cadiz<\/span> Beltr\u00e1n Fern\u00e1ndez<\/strong> in the Infantile and Alev\u00edn Male categories, respectively.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Andalusian Pitch & Putt adds up and goes on<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Andalusian Pitch & Putt, source of countless successes in recent years, once again completed a spectacular season in which it won six national titles, reaffirming its total dominance in this variety of golf.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thus, <\/span>Leonardo Lilja and Ana Pelaez<\/strong> reissued laurels such as <\/span>champions of Spain Individual<\/strong>; <\/span>Antonio Pimentel<\/strong> and the <\/span>Leonardo Lilja<\/strong> their second consecutive victory in the <\/span>Spanish Doubles Championship<\/strong>; <\/span>Antonio Fernandez and Rosa Sanchez<\/strong> were awarded the <\/span>Spanish Senior Men’s and Women’s Championship; <\/strong>and the Andalusian Pitch & Putt team, made up by <\/span>Jose Lopez, Antonio Pimentel, Leonardo Lilja, Jose Luis Lopez and Pedro Rodriguez<\/strong> (captain), repeated his triumph in the <\/span>Interterritorial.<\/strong><\/p>\n

To round off a year full of victories<\/span>, <\/strong>the Cadiz-born<\/span> Enrique Mar\u00edn <\/strong>finished first in the fourth and last <\/span>Scoring for the National Ranking of Pitch & Putt 2013.<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Andalusia sweeps the U-25 Men’s and Children’s Interterritorials<\/strong><\/p>\n

If in the individual tournaments the Andalusian golfers scored masterfully, in the team competitions they did not lag behind, demonstrating that Andalusia is at the top of the national golf.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to the second consecutive win for the masters of short game<\/span> <\/em>in the <\/span>Pitch & Putt Inter-territorial<\/strong>, <\/em>the regional team, made up of <\/span>Leonardo Lilja, V\u00edctor Pastor, Mario Galiano, Carlos Leandro, Antonio Cruz-Conde, Jos\u00e9 Mateo, Mario Galiano Trujillano<\/strong> (captain) and <\/span>Castor G\u00f3mez<\/strong> (professional), also revalidated their crown in the <\/span>Interterritorial U-25 Men’s 1st Division “Santi Oll\u00e9 Memorial”.<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

With this new achievement, Andalusia reached an impressive fourteen titles (1985, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1991, 1992, 1992, 1995, 1998, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2012 and 2013, reflecting its supremacy in this competition. <\/span><\/p>\n

And to round off the superb collective performance of the Andalusian players during 2013, the team composed by <\/span>Ignacio Puente, Sergio Ronchel, Sara Garc\u00eda, Gonzalo Leal, Juan Manuel Due\u00f1as, Mar\u00eda Contreras, Inmaculada Torres (captain) and Inmaculada Torres (captain). <\/strong>(captain)<\/span> <\/strong>y<\/span> Castor G\u00f3mez <\/strong>(professional) lifted the title in the <\/span>Children’s Interterritorial “Memorial Blanca Mayor<\/strong>“.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ignacio Puente’s stellar role, combined with the second place finish of <\/span>Mar\u00eda Parra<\/strong>who came close to victory after losing in the play-off tie-breaker to Asturian <\/span>Covadonga Sanju\u00e1n<\/strong>and the third place of <\/span>Ana Pelaez<\/strong>are a new proof of the magnificent work carried out in Andalusia during the last decades.<\/span><\/p>\n
