“LA CA\u00d1ADA HAS ALWAYS BEEN A SCHOOL OF CHAMPIONS”. <\/span><\/p>\n

Like all those born in the Cadiz town of Guadiaro, he has a long-standing connection with the world of golf, “some of us have been here almost since we were born,” he says.<\/p>\n

And although in his case the vocation for the game he says it was “late”, around the age of 25, he has never stopped practicing this sport to which he now devotes much more of his free time since he has been elected president of La Ca\u00f1ada Golf Club.<\/p>\n

– New presidency for your club – new challenges or continuity?<\/p>\n

-I want to make a point and apart, that my change is mainly to focus on the promotion of golf at the club, especially in the children’s school, where we have about three hundred students in different categories and ages. I also want to promote adapted golf. In short, I intend to focus essentially on our club. <\/p>\n

Do you have any immediate or medium-term projects?<\/p>\n

Yes, I intend to make one more hole in the course, nineteen in total, thinking that, as we work through tour operators in winter, when we sell them an 18-hole course, there will be 18 holes, so that when we undertake any reform we can always close at least one hole and still keep the eighteen holes without any problems.<\/p>\n

-It is the Costa del Sol course with the most rounds played annually….<\/p>\n

-That’s right, last year 68,000 rounds were made.<\/p>\n

-Does that mean it’s also the most profitable club on the Coast?<\/p>\n

-No, it’s not that, because many of those rounds are from our members, not from green fee sales. Twenty-four percent of the budget is from member contributions, and the other 76 percent is from visitors. What contributes to the 68,000 tee times is, apart from our very competitive prices, above all the quality and maintenance of the course. <\/p>\n

-Is the High Performance Center going to continue or what will happen?<\/p>\n

-In principle, this issue is on “stand by”, on hold, because we need funding and I do not want to use the members’ money to undertake a project that will benefit all the children in Andalusia as well as our own.<\/p>\n

Obviously the financing cannot be ours, it has to come from the entity or entities so that we are not the only ones to support it.<\/p>\n

-La Ca\u00f1ada has always been a school of champions, great amateur and professional players have come out of here…<\/p>\n

-We are very proud of this. We have always been a school of champions and we continue to provide magnificent players like Mario Galiano lately, or before the Quiros saga…. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
