The best players of the Challenge Tour will face each other again in a combined strokeplay-match play format for the fourth consecutive year, and this time they will do it next June at the Iberostar Real Club de Golf Novo Sancti Petri, a course that has hosted some of the most important men’s and women’s tournaments played in our country.<\/p>\n
It will be a magnificent occasion to celebrate the 30 years of this course that was the first golf course designed by Seve Ballesteros in our country, which opened its doors in 1990 with 27 holes and now has 36 holes, two 18-hole courses, 9 par 3, and a picth&putt, which in 2016 obtained the title of Real Novo Sancti Petri, which shows the relevance of the quality of its courses and facilities.<\/p>\n
Jaime Salaverri, President of the Professionals Committee of the RFEG assures that “this modality is fundamental for the players of the Challenge Tour; it is the only tournament in this circuit in which they play MatchPlay, a modality that they will face in some of the most important tournaments at world level that we trust they will reach in their professional career. And precisely in MatchPlay the Spaniards have always stood out and we hope that the fourth edition and the 30th anniversary of the club will culminate with a Spanish victory”.<\/p>\n
The Andaluc\u00eda Match Play 9 has the support of the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation for whom, in the words of its President, Pablo Mansilla “represents the consolidation of a format that, if in its first edition was risky, it is confirmed that it is valued by the players. Apart from being entertaining for them to play two different modalities in the same tournament, and being a 9-hole match play, it favors the agility of the game and the fun and entertainment for the spectators, since Match Play is one of the most exciting formats in golf, which will show us the different skills of the players. It will undoubtedly be a magnificent test of golf that will be attended by the best players on the Challenge Tour”.<\/p>\n
Rafael Hern\u00e1ndez Alcal\u00e1, Manager of the Iberostar Real Club de Golf Novo Sancti Petri showed his satisfaction with the confirmation of the venue since “it is a course that has hosted some of the best tournaments in our country and it is the most appropriate time to receive the players of the Challenge Tour in this original format in which they will not only enjoy the course in its best conditions, but our course will have the repercussion it deserves. This year marks the 30th anniversary of Destino Tur\u00edstico Chiclana – a benchmark for golf in Europe – and our club, which has been gradually growing and consolidating itself as one of the best in our country as evidenced by the awards received not only for our three courses but also for its facilities. We hope to present the course in the best conditions for these players who are on their way to the elite of world golf”.<\/p>\n
The Andaluc\u00eda MatchPlay 9 will be played from June 11 to 14 at Iberostar Real Club de Golf Novo Sancti Petri, and will be supported by the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation, the Junta de Andaluc\u00eda – Empresa P\u00fablica del Deporte y Turismo de Andaluc\u00eda, the Diputaci\u00f3n de C\u00e1diz, the Ayuntamiento de Chiclana de la Frontera, the Patronato de Turismo de C\u00e1diz, the Iberostar hotel group and Kyocera.
