The Europa Course<\/strong> at La Cala Resort <\/strong>has been the magnificent venue for the last qualifying round of the Mijas Sun & Golf Circuit<\/strong>. Sponsored by the Mijas Town Hall<\/strong> in an initiative of the Mijas Golf Courses Association<\/strong>, this first edition of the Circuit <\/span>consists of five tournaments plus a final, to be played on August 24 at Mijas Golf Los Lagos, which will be followed by a gala dinner at the hotel La Zambra.<\/span> <\/p>\n

Europe is aspectacular course but easier for the average golfer, with wide fairways, flatter terrain and slightly larger greens than its ‘brothers’ of the resort, the America and Asia courses. It is highlighted by a main bridge and four smaller bridges that cross the Oj\u00e9n River, which appears in eight holes and crosses three fairways. <\/span><\/p>\n

It is worth mentioning the truly extraordinary result of the scratch winner, Aitor Gorriti,<\/strong> who won with no less than 43 scratch points, 7 under the field. However, he will not be able to play the final of the Circuit, since he has other work commitments during those days. <\/p>\n

The awards ceremony was presented by La Cala Resort’s Director of Golf, Robert Michell<\/strong>, <\/strong>and was attended by the Councillor for Tourism of the Mijas Town Hall, Francisco Jerez<\/strong>. Also present, on behalf of La Cala Resort, were Edouard des Fontaines<\/strong>, Marketing Director, and Silvia Ortega<\/strong>, Head of Golf Accounts. <\/p>\n

There were prizes in all the par 3 courses, where those who left the ball closest to the flag received a case of San Miguel beer<\/strong>, a partner brand of the Tour. The players were also able to enjoy San Miguel beers on the 10th hole, which helped to mitigate the heat of the day.<\/p>\n

The best classified in La Cala get a place to play the final, where the prizes of seven vouchers to play for a whole year the courses of the Circuit, which apart from La Cala and Mijas Golf are Chaparral, La Noria, Cerrado del Aguila and Miraflores, will be decided.<\/p>\n

Another particularity of the Circuit is the support given to women’s golf, so that a special ladies’ category is established, giving access to the final to the two best classified in the special ladies’ category that are not in the general prizes. The same is done for the best players, establishing a special scratch prize. <\/p>\n

In this way, nine players in each tournament are those who qualify for the grand final on Saturday, August 24. The Mijas Sun & Golf Circuit has as another hallmark the fact that the qualifying rounds are played on alternate Fridays during the summer months, becoming a very pleasant event and the best way to start a weekend. <\/p>\n
