{"id":20544,"date":"2011-10-03T09:00:18","date_gmt":"2011-10-03T09:00:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/andaluciagolf.com\/northern-irelands-michael-hoey-wins-the-alfred-dunhill\/"},"modified":"2011-10-03T09:00:18","modified_gmt":"2011-10-03T09:00:18","slug":"northern-irelands-michael-hoey-wins-the-alfred-dunhill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/andaluciagolf.com\/en\/northern-irelands-michael-hoey-wins-the-alfred-dunhill\/","title":{"rendered":"Northern Ireland&#8217;s Michael Hoey wins the Alfred Dunhill"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"line-height: 21px;\"><span style=\"font-family:Helvetica;mso-bidi-font-family:  \" lang=\"ES\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-1365\" src=\"https:\/\/andaluciagolf.holaincompany.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/News_captura-de-pantalla-2011-10-03-a-las-10.46.29.png\" border=\"0\" style=\"border-style: initial; border-color: initial;  \" width=\"201\" height=\"270\">Northern Ireland\u2019s Michael Hoey has been proclaimed winner of the Alfred Dunhill Chamnpionship, a European Tour tournament, after being able to withstand the fearsome onslaught of his compatriots Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell.  <\/span><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Helvetica;  \">The final in St. Andrews of this tournament, which took place in previous days also in the links of Kingsbarns and Carnoustie, had a Northern Irish color: Hoey, 32 years old, won with -22, McIlroy finished second, two strokes behind, and McDowell was third although he was equal with the Scotsman George Murray.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-margin-top-alt:auto;margin-bottom:9.0pt; line-height:16.0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Helvetica;mso-bidi-font-family:  \" lang=\"ES\">Hoey\u2019s three birdies on the last four holes, especially the last on the 18th, saved him from falling into the clutches of McIlroy, the third best player in the world who completed the first nine flags in 30 strokes and after starting four strokes behind.<\/span><span style=\"font-family:Times;mso-bidi-font-family:  \"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-margin-top-alt:auto;margin-bottom:9.0pt; line-height:16.0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Helvetica;mso-bidi-font-family:  \" lang=\"ES\">Such was McIlroy\u2019s efficiency that he was the leader at the halfway point (four birdies and an eagle). But the 22-year-old Northern Irishman\u2019s avalanche came to a halt at the 11th hole, which was his last birdie.  <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times;mso-bidi-font-family:\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-margin-top-alt:auto;margin-bottom:9.0pt; line-height:16.0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Helvetica;mso-bidi-font-family:  \" lang=\"ES\">From that moment on, McIlroy could only make pars.
