They did not hit drives with the power of \u00c1lvaro Quir\u00f3s, nor did they kick with the finesse of Martin Kaymer or Luke Donald, nor did they approach with the subtlety of Lee Westwood or leave the bunker with the mastery of Ian Poulter, but they did enjoy themselves like true champions.<\/p>\n The weather was splendid, with a gentle breeze and bright sunshine, and the Cabell B. Robinson-designed course amazed the participants who did not know it for its quality and superb maintenance.<\/p>\n British, Germans, Scandinavians, Russians, Spaniards….. The tournament brought together a varied representation of nationalities, who greatly enjoyed the day’s sport. <\/p>\n As for the winners, Ricardo Cabellos won the first category, followed by Hugo D\u00edaz Carey and Zsolt Krasznai. All of them tied at 35 points, so the places were decided by handicap. In the second category there was female preeminence, as they won the first two places. The victory went to Maria Savchenco, with 44 points, followed by Caroline Ayling, with 41, and Simon Robinson, with 39. <\/p>\n Special prizes were awarded to Ignacio de la Vega (closest ball to the hole), Maria Savchenco (longest drive) and Roc\u00edo Rodr\u00edguez de la Milla (ladies).<\/p>\n The awards ceremony, in the spectacular Finca Cortes\u00edn clubhouse, where a magnificent cocktail was served, was presided over by the editor of Andaluc\u00eda Golf, Antonio S\u00e1nchez.<\/p>\n
The inaugural event of the summer tournaments of the Andaluc\u00eda Golf Challenge Circuit 2013 has been developed with great sporting success and participation in one of the most prestigious golf courses in Spain: Finca Cortes\u00edn, home of three Volvo World Match Play Championships. The amateurs who attended the tournament had fun, and also suffered, on the fairways and greens where the best players in the world measured their strength in the World Match Play Championships in 2009, 2011 and 2012. <\/span><\/p>\n
