Spanish senior amateur golf is in very good health, as evidenced by the Spanish International Senior Men’s and Women’s Doubles Championships held in Costa Ballena and Arcos Gardens, respectively. The couple formed by the Cantabrian Gustavo Larraz\u00e1bal and the Asturian Juan Carlos Tintur\u00e9, has obtained the victory -the second consecutive- in an exciting second day of the International Championship of Spain Senior Men’s Doubles 2013 at Costa Ballena Ocean Golf Club (Rota, C\u00e1diz).<\/span><\/p>\n

The defending champions, who were co-leading the event after the first day together with Borja Queipo de Llano and Luis Gabarda, and with the Belgians Paul and Marc Mortier, had to work hard in the second round -this time, greensome- against the good performance of the Puerta de Hierro pair.<\/p>\n

At the end of the day, 73 strokes for 145 for Gustavo Larraz\u00e1bal and Juan Carlos Tintur\u00e9, and 74 for 146 for Borja Queipo de Llano and Luis Gabarda. The third place went to the Swedes Tomas Persson and Mats Andersson (148). <\/p>\n

On the first day, the two Spanish pairs shot 72 strokes, which allowed them to share the lead with the aforementioned Paul and Marc Mortier and to gain a minimal advantage over a large group of foreign teams.<\/p>\n

WOMEN’S DOUBLES<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Mar\u00eda Castillo and Marta Estany are the champions of the 2013 Spanish Senior Women’s Doubles International held at the Arcos Gardens course in Cadiz. The pair, with a final round of 71 strokes, finished with a total of 143, five strokes less than the Dutch Tita McCart and Nan Croockewit, who finished second. <\/p>\n

Eight strokes behind the champions are Roc\u00edo Ruiz de Velasco and Mar\u00eda Orueta, after having scored 78 strokes on the second day. Both tied for third place with Emy Garz\u00f3n and Cristina Marsans, who after 80 strokes lost the lead achieved on the first day. <\/p>\n

Cristina Marsans and Emy Garz\u00f3n started leading the event after a first round of 71 strokes and a one-stroke advantage over the pairs formed by Catalina and Casilda Castillejo, and Mar\u00eda Castillo and Marta Estany, who finally won the event.<\/p>\n

On this occasion the winning pair in 2012, formed by Catalina Castillejo and Mar\u00eda Orueta, have played separately with other partners; the first has done so with her sister Casilda (cumulative handicap 4.1), while the second has been accompanied by the current European champion, Roc\u00edo Ruiz de Velasco (0.9). The pair of sisters finished nine strokes behind the champions after a second day of 82 strokes, while Mar\u00eda Orueta and Ruiz de Velasco managed to finish in third position. <\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
