A round of 67 strokes (-5) led the Catalan to the title at the Real Club de Golf Guadalmina (Marbella).

On the other hand, the Asturian Alejandra Pasarín has been proclaimed champion of Spain Under 18 after beating the Andalusian María Parra in an exciting playoff, thus increasing the spectacle of a tournament characterized from the outset by equality, competitiveness and high level golf.

Camilla Hedberg and Noemí Jiménez, two golfers from the United States, where they play in the University League, showed a magnificent performance in their return to competition in Spain. Noemí Jiménez was the leader at the end of the first three rounds, while Camilla Hedberg was the leader at the end.

The player from Terramar -who already won this title in 2011 in Pedreña and in 2012 in El Saler- left for the last 18 holes her best game, which resulted in 67 strokes (-5). That result, the best of the day in Guadalmina, was worth the title, given that Noemí Jiménez could not lower the par of the course.

In the end, 280 strokes (-8) for Camilla Hedberg, 282 (-6) for Noemí Jiménez and honorable mention for both. The third place was shared by Alejandra Pasarín -who scored a 68 (-4) on the day- and María Parra, both with 288 total strokes.

As for the Girl competition, the outcome could not have been more exciting, as María Parra and Alejandra Pasarín played for the title in a play-off playoff. The Asturian won on the first hole saving the par and taking advantage of the bogey of the Asturian.

The 2nd Category classification was led by Ariadna Castro, with 320 strokes.

Strong start by Noemí Jiménez (65 strokes).

Just a few days after returning from the United States, Noemí Jiménez gave a magnificent golf lesson in the opening round of the Spanish Individual Championship. The Andalusian, who not only returned to Spain but also to her home course, came out in the third game of the morning and scored a superb 65 (7 under par) as a result of seven birdies and no bogey.

With this result, the player from Malaga gained a significant advantage, although other of the main contenders for the title also signed good results. This is the case of Camilla Hedberg and Celia Barquín, who finished the day with -2.

In addition, María Herráez, Andrea Jonama and Sara Navarro finished the day under par, all of them with a 71 (-1) in their first appearance in this tournament, which is scoring for the World Ranking and for the 2014 Absolute, Girl and Cadet National Rankings.

On the second day, Noemí Jiménez gave no respite and scored a card of 71 strokes, one of the four under par of the day, and extended her lead in the lead with seven strokes over Camilla Hedberg. The player from Malaga again signed a round under par in her field to accumulate a total of 136 strokes to the 143 of the player from Barcelona.

Already in the third day, Noemí Jiménez saw her lead slightly diminish, which served to glimpse an exciting fourth and final day, to which she would arrive with three strokes of income after scoring a round of 74 strokes, the worst of the three played.

Camilla Hedberg closed the gap with a 70-stroke card that placed her with a total of 213 strokes. In third place was Maria Parra, the best Girl, with 215 after 71 strokes.

Camilla Hedberg, winner in 2011 and 2012

In 2012, Camilla Hedberg won her second consecutive Spanish Absolute Women’s Championship by beating Nuria Iturrios, the other great protagonist in El Saler, in an electrifying final. Both players, tied for first place at the beginning of the last and decisive day, maintained a spectacular hand to hand during the 18 holes of the stellar match, a continuous demonstration of good play by the two players that reached its highest degree of emotion in the last hole, when either of the two had options to win the title.

The success of the Catalan player in the 18th allowed her to revalidate the title won 12 months earlier in the Cantabrian course of Pedreña, where she won with cards of 72, 74, 71 and 73 strokes for a total of 290 and was proclaimed champion in the Junior and Girl categories. Second, one stroke behind, was Harang Lee.

FINAL RESULTS

1.- Camilla Hedberg 280 (70+73+70+67)

2.- Noemí Jiménez 282 (65+71+74+72)

3.- Alejandra Pasarín 288 (78+72+70+68)

+María Parra 288 (73+71+71+73)

Camilla Hedberg from Barcelona has won for the third time the Spanish Women’s Championship 2014 after resolving in her favor a beautiful and vibrant duel with Noemi Jimenez from Malaga.
