Sending out the invitations over the weekend made me realize that I was not prepared for all that marriage entails. I wish Caroline all the happiness she deserves and thank her for the great times we have had together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The couple, known as \u2018Wozilroy\u2019 (\u2018Brangelina\u2019 style) to their fans, announced their engagement last January via Twitter, after McIlroy proposed to his girlfriend following the New Year\u2019s Eve fires in Sydney.<\/p>\n<p>The world number 10, clearly dismayed, assured a press conference on Wednesday that he had not considered withdrawing from the championship. \u201cI\u2019m not going to lie. It\u2019s going to be really tough, but I\u2019m going to have to focus on what I have on my hands. I made a commitment to be here and I thought it was my obligation to play in this event,\u201d added McIlroy, who had been in a relationship with Wozniacki for two and a half years. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously, it\u2019s a pretty difficult time for Caroline and I and I think the statement really said it all this morning. It was mutual and we both thought it was the best thing for both of us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s time to move on and I think I\u2019ve said all I have to say.
