Alfonso Guti\u00e9rrez won the second round of the Gecko Tour, which ended this Thursday at El Parador de M\u00e1laga, a luxury venue that shared the venue with Guadalhorce Golf, the course where the first two rounds of this tournament were also played. Alfonso birdied the 16th, Quir\u00f3s responded with another on the 17th, Daniel Osorio also birdied the 17th, Juan Carlos birdied the 16th and Kratz finished with two birdies on the 16th and 17th. A victory of great merit for Guti\u00e9rrez, who defeated Quir\u00f3s with a par on the second hole of the playoff. <\/p>\n
The triumph of this veteran player from Seville, born in Triana, although of Malaga residence and feeling, hides a beautiful story. Gutierrez was not planning to play this Gecko at El Parador and Guadalhorce either, however last week they received a surprise call at the Gecko Tour office. It was his girlfriend and she confirmed that, with the invaluable help of her mother (Alfonso’s mother-in-law), he was invited to this Gecko. “She told me that I was very sad because I couldn’t compete and that she wanted to help me. It was an incredible detail and I can not be happier to have achieved this victory for her,” he said after signing the card and posing with the trophy. Surely, he could never have imagined a better way to inaugurate his Gecko trophy. <\/p>\n
The tournament has been played over three days, with a cut after the second day that was set at +1 and that exceeded a total of 25 players.
