The New Zealander of Korean origin Lydia Ko has become, at 18 years old, the youngest professional golfer to reach ten victories in the history of the American Women’s Tour, the LPGA Tour, surpassing the American player who had achieved it when she was 22 years old. Ko is also the youngest to reach the tenth victory regardless of the golfer’s gender, that is, male or female. <\/p>\n
Although she had the victory in her hand after the third day, Ko did not want to leave anything to surprise and with a round of seven under par the New Zealander finished with 65 strokes to take the victory with nine strokes ahead of her toughest rival, thus achieving the largest margin of difference with the second classified this season in the LGA and her biggest distance in a victory in her entire career. Ko totaled 268 strokes, 20 under par. <\/p>\n
Ko’s record-breaking win, which came at the Fubon LPGA Taiwan Championship, comes in what is her best season as a professional so far. Ko began the year by reaching world number one and becoming the youngest player in history to do so. She also took the record away from Morgan Pressel as the youngest player to win a Grand Slam tournament. <\/p>\n
This is Lydia Ko’s fifth victory this season and she also regained the world throne by overtaking Inbee Park as number one in world golf.<\/p>\n
