This is going to be a year of weddings for famous golfers. Sergio Garcia has already announced his marital intentions for this year and all that remains to be revealed is the date and venue for his marriage to Texas journalist Angela Akins. The one who does have a date and place to say goodbye to his bachelorhood is Rory McIlroy. The 27-year-old Northern Irishman (ten years younger than Sergio) will get married in April, probably after the Masters  in Augusta, in Ashford Castle, a 13th century Irish castle converted into a luxurious five-star hotel next to Lake Corrib. <\/p>\n

Among the facilities of the hotel, located in County Mayo, near the west coast of the country, there is a 9-hole golf course and a prestigious falconry school. The cheapest room at Ashford Castle does not go below 500 euros. <\/p>\n

According to the Irish Daily Mail,  McIlroy and his fianc\u00e9e, American Erica Stoll, who works for the PGA of America, have already sent out invitations for their wedding. <\/p>\n

The first public appearance of these two lovers was in May 2015 at the Irish Open, and the proposal took place in December 2015 in Paris.<\/p>\n

In a statement McIlroy made in November of this year to No Laying Up he stated “It’s fun and it’s good that I’m involved in the wedding planning, but I let Erica take the lead in most aspects.”<\/p>\n

Let’s hope that this time what happened to the Northern Irishman in 2014 with his then fianc\u00e9e tennis player Caroline Wozniacki doesn’t happen to him: McIlroy canceled the nuptials days after sending out the invitations to the ceremony.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
