A facility in perfect condition is synonymous with good play and high competition. With this objective in mind, La Cala Resort presents its renovated and improved Europa course, ideal for any type of competitive demand. <\/p>\n
The result of the investments in maintenance and the innovations carried out show a first-class infrastructure, placing it among the major international golf facilities. The work has focused mainly on the general improvement of the bunkers, involving the renovation of the sand and the change of drainage. The enlargement of tees and greens and the redesign of some fairways have substantially improved the overall appearance of the course. <\/p>\n
In order to get the most out of its infrastructures, the resort has carried out a successful upgrade of the Europa Course. As a result, the course presents “an unbeatable condition” after two and a half months of work. The objective is to optimize the assets to “improve the experience of our customers”. In this sense, La Cala Resort wishes to continue this line of work and refurbish the other two courses in the coming years. <\/p>\n
These works are part of an ambitious maintenance project for the three fields that has been extended over two years and in which more than 350,000 euros have been invested, both in machinery and irrigation systems. <\/p>\n
As regards the Europa Course, the work has been directed mainly to the bunkers. The sand has been completely replaced, the drainage has been renewed and, above all, an intense cleaning of broadleaf weeds has been undertaken “recovering the original state and conditions of the course in Bermuda”, according to the resort. <\/p>\n
Specific actions have also been carried out in rough and fairways, verticut on tees and greens, tee platforms have been enlarged and the rough-fairways definition has been improved. Other works include the redesign of the fairways cut, the renovation of the starter’s hut and, not forgetting, notable elements in the course furniture itself. <\/p>\n
In charge of this maintenance project is a highly qualified team supervised by the head greenkeeper, Rafael Linares, a professional of great value recently nominated for the Greenkeeper of Spain Award granted by the Spanish Association of Greenkeepers. <\/p>\n
The Europa course is 6,014 meters long, par 71, and stands out for its design of wide fairways and accessible terrain, perfect for medium level players. On the other hand, its landscaping includes the presence of a main bridge and four smaller bridges that span the Oj\u00e9n River as it passes through the resort. <\/p>\n

Golf, SPA, Gastronomy and Leisure<\/strong><\/p>\n La Cala Resort on the Costa del Sol, is one of the most important golf resorts in Andalusia. It has three 18-hole golf courses designed by Cabell Robinson, an academy and six par three holes. It also includes a soccer field and sports facilities according to FIFA technical specifications.
