Designed by Cabell B. Robinson and the venue for three World Match Play Championships, the renowned course concluded a resoundingly successful seventh edition of the summer circuit, which had previously passed through a veritable cr\u00e8me de la cr\u00e8me of golf clubs on the Costa del Sol, and indeed in Spain: Royal Guadalmina (South Course), Royal Sotogrande, La Reserva Club Sotogrande, San Roque Resort (Old Course) and Flamingos (Villa Padierna). <\/p>\n<p>The day began slightly cloudy but soon cleared up, enabling participants to enjoy their rounds under a&nbsp;gloriously azure sky and with a refreshing easterly wind. The course was in magnificent condition, especially the greens, which had only recently been revamped as part of a major renovation highlighted by the introduction of a new grass strain. Players were effusive in their praise of the course, both those who had played at Finca Cortes\u00edn previously and first-timers.  <\/p>\n<p>In addition to the high quality of the course, the iconic Costa del Sol resort&#8217;s five-star service also hugely impressed those taking part in the tournament, including many different nationalities.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The prize-giving ceremony was held in the elegant clubhouse at the resort, which includes one of Europe&#8217;s premier hotels, award-winning restaurants, an exceptional spa and a superb beach club, and was presided over by Andaluc\u00eda Golf\/Espa\u00f1a Golf publisher Antonio S\u00e1nchez, Finca Cortes\u00edn golf director Miguel Girb\u00e9s, and Gabriela Johne, director of the Puerto Ban\u00fas golf attire and footwear boutique Fairway+Blue.<\/p>\n<p>Out on the course, Lars Hoft tallied 36 points to win the category one prize, followed by Sergey Falaleev (32), and Feliciano Garc\u00eda, Miguel Girb\u00e9s and Azim Adatia (31).<\/p>\n<p>Leading the way in category two was Sergey Kuznetsov (44), with Mrs. Zahid second (42) and Michael Rygol third (38). <\/p>\n<p>The winner of the scratch prize was Sergey Falaleev, who received a wonderful painting by top Marbella-based artist Alejandro Hermann.<\/p>\n<p>The special prizes for closest to the pin and longest drive went to Mrs. Zahid and Feliciano Garc\u00eda Barrag\u00e1n. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong>{gallery}AG Tournaments 2017\/Finca Cortesin{\/gallery}<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The grand finale of the popular Andaluc\u00eda Golf Challenge was held in the stunning setting of Finca Cortes\u00edn.
