The magnificent Royal Sotogrande Golf Club course hosted another resoundingly successful summer leg of the Andaluc\u00eda Golf Challenge. This seventh annual edition of the popular open amateur circuit is being held at the Costa del Sol\u2019s finest courses, and few come with a better pedigree than Royal Sotogrande, designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones. <\/p>\n

Those teeing up this week represented a diverse range of nationalities, mainly Spaniards, all of whom expressed fulsome praise for the superb design and condition of the course \u2013 considered one of the best in Europe \u2013 and thoroughly enjoyed the challenge.<\/p>\n

The prize-giving and cocktail reception was held on the club\u2019s upper terrace, with stunning views over the golf course and Mediterranean, and was presided over by Andaluc\u00eda Golf\/Espa\u00f1a Golf publisher Antonio S\u00e1nchez, Royal Sotogrande general manager Agust\u00edn Mazarrasa, and Gabriela Johne, director of the Puerto Ban\u00fas golf attire and footwear boutique Fairway+Blue.<\/p>\n

Earlier out on the course, Christer Erikisson tallied 39 points to lead the way in category one, followed by Jos\u00e9 Antonio Rigaud Moreno (38) and Juan Garc\u00eda de las Heras (37).<\/p>\n

The category two winner was Jan Policki (41), with Enric Meier Roig (34) second and Antonio Zarco Mart\u00ednez (33) third.<\/p>\n

Winner of the scratch prize was Pedro Miguel Cervey Mendoza, who took home a wonderful painting by renowned Marbella-based artist Alejandro Hermann.<\/p>\n

The prize for closest ball to the pin went to Pedro Miguel Cevey, and for longest drives (female and male), Lina L\u00f3pez Mart\u00edn and Azim Adatia.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s Andaluc\u00eda Golf Challenge coincides with Andaluc\u00eda Golf\/Espa\u00f1a Golf\u2019s 30th anniversary as Spain\u2019s longest-running bilingual golf magazine.<\/p>\n
