It never rains to everyone’s liking, but as far as the new rule of dropping from knee height instead of dropping from shoulder height is concerned, it seems that there is agreement among superstars, who have not liked this novelty at all.<\/p>\n

If last week it was Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau who were talking about how, in their opinion, ill-advised the new rule is –“dropping from there<\/span>is a bit absurd,” said the latter – , now it is <\/span>Jordan Spieth, who makes his 2019 debut at the Sony Open this week, who is not biting his tongue when it comes to criticizing the rule change. <\/span>“I really don’t understand it,” Spieth told reporters. <\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/p>\n

“You drop it from knee height, but what’s the advantage over dropping it from shoulder height? <\/span>In the latter case it’s probably a disadvantage, so why can’t you do that? In my opinion, you should<\/span>be able to drop in the stretch from shoulder height to knee height.”<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Spieth added that he doesn’t expect regular golfers to take the new rule seriously. <\/span>“What if they just take a drop of the cart path?<\/span>What if they just take a drop from the cart path?” <\/span>I don’t think they’ll care. <\/span>They’ll still drop from shoulder height, although technically you could be penalized for that. <\/span>It doesn’t make a lot of sense.<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
