It has not been one of the best deals of his life, but the truth is that he cannot complain about his financial situation. Rory McIlroy has sold his Florida mansion for 11.5 million dollars, that is, 1.25 million less than what he paid for it when he acquired it in 2012. At that time the Northern Irishman was the world number one (he is now sixth, having dropped one place in a week) and a had just won the US PGA Championship. He had also won two Playoff Series tournaments that season and another world championship to reach the first place in the ranking for the first time. <\/span><\/p>\n

Rory\u2019s former Florida property includes a 930-square-meter, six-bedroom home, swimming pool and large synthetic putting green. The property was listed for sale for $11.9 million, so the new owners eventually got a $400,000 rebate. <\/p>\n

The identity of the buyer has not been revealed, but it does not appear to be another famous golfer, as was the case when Jordan Spieth bought his colleague Hunter Magan\u2019s mansion in Dallas. Spieth paid seven million dollars for it. <\/p>\n

In his case, he got a much more substantial rebate than the one who bought Rory\u2019s house, as Spieth shelled out $2.5 million less than Magan\u2019s original asking price. Jordan\u2019s mansion has an indoor basketball court, golf simulator, wine cellar and a 12-car garage. <\/p>\n
