A golfer from North Carolina has played 400 holes in 24 hours to raise money for soldiers from that US state who have fallen in combat. The gentleman\u2019s name is Karl Kimball and he is the director of Hillandale Golf Course in Durhan, North Carolina. The goal was to raise funds for the Fallen with Honor Foundation, an organization that provides scholarships for the children of fallen soldiers. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe think about our military and the sacrifice they made. The affected family members live with this every day,\u201d Kimball said.<\/p>\n

In preparation for the event, he spent two days spray painting the names of 200 North Carolina soldiers killed in action on the golf course.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know every one of those soldiers,\u201d Kimball said. \u201cI\u2019ve read every single one of their stories, every single one of them, so I\u2019m connected to them.\u201d <\/p>\n

Kimball spent ten hours to paint what he calls \u201cThe Street of Honor,\u201d with the name, company and rank of the soldiers who died since Operation Enduring Freedom began.<\/p>\n

The unusual 24-hour golf match began this past Monday at 6 p.m. and Kimball used reflective glow balls during the evening hours. Kimball and his fellow golfers raised more than $100,000 for the Folds of Honor Foundation. <\/p>\n

Kimball\u2019s marathon is part of the so-called Patriot Week, which is celebrated at golf courses across the United States.<\/p>\n
