There are 182 days left until the opening shot at the Andaluc\u00eda Valderrama Masters, as many as triumphs Spanish golf has achieved on the European Tour, a happy coincidence that has come about thanks to Jon Rahm’s brilliant victory at the Spanish Open recently held at the National Golf Center.<\/span><\/p>\n

After the emotions experienced last week in Madrid, it is time to focus the attention on the event that will take place from October 18 to 21 at the Real Club Valderrama, a tournament that is awakening an unusual expectation thanks to the achievements of Spanish players and whose tickets are already available at: www.europeantour.com\/tickets<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>On Sunday, in Madrid, thousands of fans gathered to watch Rahm succeed Sergio Garc\u00eda, champion of the 2017 Andaluc\u00eda Valderrama Masters, and become the second Spanish golfer to win back-to-back European Tour tournaments held in our country.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>It also happened that the player from Barrika lifted the champion’s cup on exactly the same day (April 15) as Antonio Garrido in the 1972 Spanish Open, the first national golf title in the framework of the modern European Tour.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>Sergio Garc\u00eda put the icing on the cake of a sensational season by winning the Andaluc\u00eda Valderrama Masters 2017 and adding the third title of the year -Masters of Augusta, Omega Dubai Desert Classic-, in front of thousands of fans who gathered at the famous San Roque course.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>The Spaniard, the first Spaniard to win an individual title by winning the second edition of the tournament, has always maintained a close relationship with the Cadiz course where last year, two days before lifting the trophy, he was named honorary member of the European Tour and also honorary member of the Real Club Valderrama.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Winning at Valderrama was very special. The truth is that it was incredible to do it in Spain, on one of my favorite courses in front of so many fans, and above all, with my family,”<\/i> recalls Garcia. <\/span><\/p>\n

“It was a very nice week and I played well, but the most important thing was the attitude. There were moments that tested me and yet I knew how to react and was patient; I stayed confident making sure I wasn’t affected by bad shots. Valderrama is a demanding course that requires patience and you have to like it. And I love Valderrama. <\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

“The atmosphere was incredible all week. Joost -who was at a very high level and didn’t give me any respite- and all the players, who made the public enjoy themselves a lot. On Sunday on the 17th hole I got goose bumps when I holed the putt and saw how the crowd went crazy. <\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

“2017 was a great year for Spanish golf and for me; 2008 was also very good but the past impressive, probably, the best of my career.”<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Wednesday 17th (Pro-Am day) 8 \u20ac; Thursday 18th and Friday 19th (first and second round of the tournament) 12 \u20ac; Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st October, 20 \u20ac each day.
