{"id":22029,"date":"2018-01-31T12:19:07","date_gmt":"2018-01-31T12:19:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/andaluciagolf.com\/spain-hosts-this-year-tournaments-of-the-main-european-circuits\/"},"modified":"2018-01-31T12:19:07","modified_gmt":"2018-01-31T12:19:07","slug":"spain-hosts-this-year-tournaments-of-the-main-european-circuits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/andaluciagolf.com\/en\/spain-hosts-this-year-tournaments-of-the-main-european-circuits\/","title":{"rendered":"Spain hosts this year tournaments of the main European circuits"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/Newsletter241\/2016%200%20Open%20de%20Espan%CC%83a%20Femenino%20(Azahara%20Mun%CC%83oz)%20OK%20OK.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>Spain will host this year tournaments of the four main European professional golf circuits<span> <\/span><span> <\/span> , although some of the dates and venues have not yet been confirmed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>European Tour<\/strong>: The Andaluc\u00eda Valderrama Masters returns to Sotogrande from October 18 to 21, after Sergio Garc\u00eda&#8217;s victory last year and Jon Rahm&#8217;s professional debut in Spain, where he missed the cut<span> <\/span>, although he later redeemed himself with victory in the<span> <\/span>tournament that ended the European season:<span> <\/span>the Dubai World Tour Championship.<\/p>\n<p>There is also a free date<span> <\/span>on the European Tour calendar, April 12-15 (one week after the U.S. Masters),<span> <\/span>with speculation in the Spanish press that the Open de Espa\u00f1a (which<span> <\/span>se<span> <\/span>did not play last season) could return at a club in Madrid, possibly the RACE.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ladies European Tour<\/strong>: Founded<span> <\/span>four decades ago, in 1978, this women&#8217;s circuit was<span> <\/span>has struggled in recent seasons to provide a complete schedule and financial endowments<span> <\/span>minimally relevant, but, according to LET CEO Mark Lichtenhein,<span> <\/span>this circuit hopes to take advantage of a &#8220;significant tailwind that is driving women in the sport at the moment.&#8221; Last week <span> <\/span>said<span> <\/span>that &#8220;as things stand, we are on the verge of confirming two more European tournaments.<span> <\/span>Our<span> <\/span>target of having 20 tournaments this year compared to 15 in the previous year.<span> <\/span>past. In other words, things are getting better.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>No tournaments have been officially announced<span> <\/span>after the three Australian<span> <\/span>with which the season starts, plus the<span> <\/span>in South Africa and Morocco in March and April, respectively, but presumably one of the 20 planned will be the<span> <\/span>Open de Espa\u00f1a Femenino, which was played<span> <\/span>in Marbella the<span> <\/span>last two seasons, and was won on both occasions by local star Azahara Mu\u00f1oz.<\/p>\n<p><strong>European Challenge Tour<\/strong>:<span> <\/span>In what has been baptized by this circuit<span> <\/span>as the first &#8220;Iberian Swing&#8221;, the Spanish Challenge will be held at Izki Golf, \u00c1lava.<span> <\/span>from May 3-6, followed by the Portuguese Open ( May 10-13 at Morgado, Portim\u00e3o, Algarve) and the Andaluc\u00eda-Costa del Sol Match Play 9 (May 17-20), which played at La Cala Resort (Mijas) in 2017, but still does not have an officially confirmed venue for this year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Staysure Tour (European Senior)<\/strong>: The Meli\u00e3 Villaitana Golf Club, in Alicante, will host the first edition of the<span> <\/span>Costa Blanca Benidorm Senior Masters from November 29th to December 1st.
