We already know that the golfer is a brave sportsman who does not shrink from adversity and only leaves the course if the weather forces him to do so. Or if the sunlight disappears. <\/span><\/p>\n The Costa del Sol, with its more than 300 days of sunshine a year, is a golfer’s paradise, and that means that, thanks to its climate and its large number of courses, it is the leading golf tourist destination in Europe and one of the first in the world. However, there are occasions – rare, fortunately – when a heavy rain or an untimely storm puts a damper on a golfer’s plans. Fortunately, there is now an alternative to enjoy golf if the weather conditions are adverse or even if the sunlight does not disappear. <\/p>\n That alternative is called Manilva Sun, an Andalusian village-style tourist apartment complex in the Costa del Sol town from which it takes its name, where it is possible to play golf rain, shine or night. The ‘trick’ is an indoor golf facility equipped with the latest generation of TrackMan and a game simulator on 90 great golf courses around the world, including some of the most renowned, such as Valderrama, Pebble Beach or Belfry. <\/span><\/p>\n Ricardo Garc\u00eda Tamaj\u00f3n, general manager and co-owner of Manilva Sun together with Cayetano Garc\u00eda Tapia, explains how the idea of this indoor golf facility came about, located in a large room of the complex equipped with comfortable sofas and a bar service, which invites you to spend a very pleasant evening playing golf indoors, as if it were a bowling alley.<\/span><\/p>\n “We opened the hotel,” he says, “in the summer of 2017 after a major refurbishment of the complex, updating it to the quality standards of the tourism we are targeting, mainly golf during the winter, and family tourism in the summer. When we finished the reform we had a number of facilities that were in disuse and we thought about how we could recycle them and differentiate ourselves from the rest of the competition, and one idea that my partner Cayetano and I considered was golf. We did a study, we looked at different technological suppliers in the world of golf and finally decided to create a TrackMan facility within the complex”.<\/span><\/p>\n Manila Sun offers 126 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, and among other facilities, apart from the TrackMan room, there is a putting green, an outdoor swimming pool heated all year round, both in winter and summer, a games room (billiards, table soccer, etc.) and a bar-cafeteria.<\/span><\/p>\n About TrackMan, Garc\u00eda Tamaj\u00f3n says it is focused on three uses. “On the one hand,” he points out, “the academy of improvement of both amateurs and professionals. In fact, we are already having children from schools in the surrounding area, from La Ca\u00f1ada, Alcaidesa, San Roque, between 12 and 14 years old, children who are promising, with handicaps between 3 and +1, and they come to give two or three hours a week of improvement”. <\/span><\/p>\n Another aspect of the TrackMan room at Manilva Sun is that of private lessons to anyone who wants to improve their game with the support of the most modern technology. “Our TrackMan provides all the necessary tools to improve golf performance and practice,” assures the resort’s general manager. “The golf radar,” he continues, “not only helps map key data parameters (speed, angle, trajectory, etc.) but also captures the swing with a built-in HD video camera that provides a 3D view of the ball’s flight.” <\/span><\/p>\n The third focus of this state-of-the-art equipment is the playful part, since it has a simulator <\/span>which allows virtual play on 90 of the best golf courses in the world, “top courses on the European, PGA and Asian Tours”. Matches can be played with up to eight people and the simulator can also be used as a practice course “like the one you have in your own club, with the difference that here you get up to 70 parameters for each stroke”. The entire session is recorded in high definition, with every swing, every shot hit and its corresponding parameters, and the footage is sent by e-mail to the player. <\/span><\/p>\n “For example, we are working with the Academy of La Ca\u00f1ada, which is advised by Kiko Luna of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation and every week four or five of his students come, they do the exercises that their teachers instruct them with our professional, David Gil, and when they finish the class, the report is sent by email to La Ca\u00f1ada so that Kiko Luna and his team can see the evolution of each player”.<\/span><\/p>\n The TrackMan Room can be used by any golf player even if they are not staying at Manilva Sun. “It’s one more service we give to hotel guests,” says its general manager, “but it’s also open to people not staying here. They learn, play golf, have a bar… it’s like a bowling alley but for playing golf”. <\/span><\/p>\n No other hotel or tourist accommodation complex in Spain has similar indoor golf facilities. “We are,” assures Garc\u00eda Tamaj\u00f3n, “the first in Spain with this simulator and the third in Europe.” <\/span><\/p>\n About the putting green facilities, he explains that they consist of nine holes and occupy an area of 200 square meters. “It has been installed by the company Best Garden,” says the general manager of Manilva Sun, “and has a professional tournament speed, very similar to that of the greens of the courses in the Sotogrande area.” <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" We already know that the golfer is a brave sportsman who does not shrink from adversity and only leaves the course if the weather forces him to do so.
