Located in Benalup (C\u00e1diz province), the magnificent Fairplay Golf & Spa Resort course was the stunning venue for the latest leg of the 10th Andaluc\u00eda Golf Challenge-Destination Dominican Republic Ocean\u2019s 4 Bah\u00eda Principe Circuit.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the weekend players travelled to this exceptional resort, situated in the picturesque La Janda area (home of the \u201cRuta del Toro\u201d or \u201cRoute of the Bull\u201d), to tee up in the tournament organised by Andaluc\u00eda Golf magazine. In addition to the golf course, they were able to enjoy the amenities of a five-star hotel and the resort\u2019s 2,000-square-metre-plus spa. <\/span><\/p>\n

The par-73 course is highlighted by incomparable natural beauty. Its 18 holes are surrounded by impressive Mediterranean vegetation composed mainly of olive trees, cork oaks, pines and lentisk; and its gentle terrain is ideal for golf. <\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Located a short distance from Benalup village, and not far from the dramatic hillside town of Vejer de la Frontera, the golf course offers spectacular views over the La Janda lagoons and Alcornocales nature park, which includes one of Europe\u2019s most attractive forests, and is hugely popular with tourists.<\/span>.<\/span>

THE TOP PLAYERS<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Players were accompanied by splendidly sunny skies and extremely pleasant temperatures throughout the tournament. Joaqu\u00edn Escalante Boceta was victorious in the first category with 36 points, and Alejandro L\u00f3pez Mal\u00e9ndez won category two (38). The scratch winner was Jes\u00fas S\u00e1nchez Calvente (32). Finishing second in their respective categories were Jos\u00e9 Manuel Bryan Jim\u00e9nez (34) and Germ\u00e1n Camacho Chaves (37), and third were Manuel David Rodr\u00edaguez Amaya (34) and Francisco Huertas Mac\u00edas (37). Special prizes for closest to the pin went to Francisco Javier Gavira Padilla and for longest drives to Lulu Pouroulis and Joaqu\u00edn Escalante Boceta. <\/span><\/p>\n

Those who were not previously familiar with Fairplay Golf \u2013 the majority of participants in the tournament \u2013 were very pleasantly surprised by the course, highlighting the quality of the layout and its excellent presentation.<\/span><\/p>\n

The five-star hotel was also widely praised, as well as the service and attention provided. In the end, even with a full program, the weekend proved to be too short for many, and they vowed to return. <\/span><\/p>\n

TRIP TO THE CARIBBEAN<\/strong><\/p>\n

As was the case in 2018 (in 2019 the destination was the Riviera Maya), the top five players on the Circuit will be rewarded with week-long trips to the Dominican Republic, with all-inclusive stays at the five-star Luxury Bahia Principe Bouganville hotel and golf at the spectacular Ocean\u2019s 4, Punta Espada and Teeth of the Dog courses. The planned date for the trip is from 26 October to 2 November 2020. <\/span><\/p>\n

These five winners will be decided at the Circuit\u2019s grand final, to be played on 29 August at Finca Cortes\u00edn, the venue for three editions of the Volvo Match Play World Championship. The leading three in each of the two categories plus the best scratch player in each tournament will gain places in the grand final. Prizes of a trip to the Dominican Republic\u2019s Caribbean area will be secured by the top two players in each category and the scratch winner of the grand final. <\/span><\/p>\n
