The Old Course of Atalaya Golf & Country Club<\/strong>, one of the two magnificent courses of the Costa del Sol club, has once again stood out in the Andaluc\u00eda Golf Challenge<\/b> Circuit, which this year celebrates its thirteenth edition and has five golf trips to the Riviera Maya<\/strong> as a prize for the winners of the final. The attractiveness of this event (May 19) made it necessary to hang the sold-out sign well in advance. <\/span><\/p>\n

The weather was magnificent and, despite the large number of competitors (118), the pace of play was very fluid, highlighting the great design of this course located halfway between the municipalities of Benahav\u00eds and Estepona.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>After the competition, a wonderful cocktail\/lunch was served at the clubhouse, which preceded the prize-giving ceremony and raffle of gifts.<\/span><\/p>\n

We would like to highlight the collaboration provided to the tournament and the great professionalism of the club’s team led by Andr\u00e9s S\u00e1nchez<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>The scratch, first and second category winners won a place in the final of the Circuit organized by Andaluc\u00eda Golf\/Espa\u00f1a Golf magazine<\/strong>, where the fabulous five trips to the Riviera Maya<\/strong> will be decided next October. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>As for the results of the tournament, the scratch winner was Jos\u00e9 Ug\u00eda Gonz\u00e1lez<\/b>, with 38 scratch points. In the first category, Jose Mar\u00eda Piedra Quir\u00f3s<\/strong> won, <\/b>with 41 stableford points, followed by Fernando Guinda Perez<\/b>, with 40, and Marius Haibach Alistair<\/b>, also with 40 points. In the second category the winner was Rom\u00e1n Romero Gonz\u00e1lez<\/b>, with 48 points, followed by Buchnev Yury Alexandrovich<\/b>, with 45, and Serge Janssens<\/b>, with 44 points. <\/p>\n

In addition to the prizes for the first three classified in each category and the scratch winner, there were two special prizes for the closest ball, on hole 16 for Restaurante Tragabuches of the Dani Garc\u00eda Group<\/strong> and on hole 2 for IdeaTerrazas<\/strong>, won respectively by Gonzalo Garc\u00eda del Campo <\/span><\/strong>y<\/span> Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Piedra Quir\u00f3s<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/em>Atalaya Golf & Country Club<\/strong> is the ninth of the thirty tournaments that make up the thirteenth edition of the Andaluc\u00eda Golf Challenge ‘Destino PGA Riviera Maya by Bah\u00eda Pr\u00edncipe’, an<\/strong> open amateur circuit organized by the Andaluc\u00eda Golf\/Espa\u00f1a Golf magazine.<\/b> The circuit will cover all the Andalusian provinces, as well as others in central Spain, with most of the events taking place on the Costa del Sol, on top-level courses. <\/span><\/p>\n

The grand final <\/b>of the circuit, from which the five winners of the trips to the Mexican Caribbean<\/b> will be chosen, will be played on September 30<\/strong> and will be followed by a gala dinner at the Gran <\/b>Hotel Guadalp\u00edn Ban\u00fas. Access to the final<\/b> will be direct for the winner of each category<\/strong> and the scratch winner<\/b> of each tournament, while the remaining places in the final will be awarded on the basis of the Benahav\u00eds Ranking<\/b> based on the points obtained in each event.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

The next appointments of the Circuit will be <\/strong>on 2 <\/strong>4 at RCG Sotogrande <\/b>and 27 in Santa Maria Golf<\/b> (Marbella).<\/p>\n

The top two finishers in each category and the scratch winner of the Grand Final, to be played on September 30 in Almenara, will travel to the Mexican Caribbean. <\/span><\/p>\n
