The Real Club de Golf Las Brisas, in Marbella, will host from November 23 to 26 the Andaluc\u00eda Costa del Sol Open de Espa\u00f1a 2023, tournament that, as is traditional since 2020, will close the season of the Ladies European Tour and will decide the winner of the Race to Costa del Sol, the ranking of the circuit.<\/p>\n
In this way, the historic course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. in 1968 and updated by Kyle Phillips in 2015, will resume \u201ca club record that had been on stand-by for the last 20 years,\u201d says Paul Mu\u00f1oz, general manager of RCG Las Brisas.<\/p>\n

The Real Club de Golf Las Brisas was the scene of two World Cups (1973 and 1989) and two Spanish Opens (1983 and 1987), and was attended by great players such as Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Seve Ballesteros, Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Olaz\u00e1bal, Nick Faldo and Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Ca\u00f1izares. Therefore, \u201cthis tournament will once again place Real Club de Golf Las Brisas on the golf map. We want to renew that feeling that we had before at the club, and to do it with a women\u2019s event is a plus, not only because it is on the rise, but also because it will give the club a new positioning and will put us on the map in a very interesting way,\u201d he continues. <\/p>\n
As for the course, which will host the best players on the European circuit, it will have several holes that can be decisive, especially since its redesign, although \u201cthe 11th hole will be the most emblematic and special, as it was here that great moments were experienced in the tournaments held in the 70s and 80s,\u201d explains Paul Mu\u00f1oz. \u201cThe key to success against Real Club de Golf Las Brisas will be to be very regular. I think the player who focuses on taking fairways and reading the greens well will have a good chance of winning\u201d. <\/p>\n
The design of the Real Club de Golf Las Brisas is complemented by the landscaping created by the Englishman Gerald Huggan. As if it were a botanical garden, plants and trees from all continents, such as the Cape Chestnut and Thorny Acacias, the Indian Laurel and Mysore Ficus from Asia, the Chorisia speciosa from America, the Green Ash from Mexico and the Whistling Pine from Australia, as well as numerous palms and Mediterranean trees, fill the course with imagination and color. <\/p>\n
The Andaluc\u00eda Costa del Sol Open de Espa\u00f1a, which will be in its twenty-first edition and which has two Spaniards in its trophy cabinet, Azahara Mu\u00f1oz, this one twice, and Carlota Ciganda, will put the finishing touch to what will undoubtedly be the best year in the history of Spanish women\u2019s golf after the Solheim Cup from September 18 to 24.<\/p>\n
