Cap Cana<\/strong> has welcomed Jack Nicklaus back. The legendary golfer and course designer returns to the Dominican Ciudad Destino to follow the development of Las Iguanas Golf Course<\/strong>, the new layout being built under the signature and design of Jack Nicklaus Signature Design, with the first nine holes already in play and a full official opening scheduled for spring 2027.<\/p>\n

The visit by the golfer and his team reaffirms the alliance that has accompanied the development of the Dominican resort’s golf courses and strengthens its commitment to international sports tourism. It also gives continuity to a relationship that has linked the Nicklaus name to the destination’s golf offering for years, beginning with Punta Espada Golf Club, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year and is recognised as one of the finest courses in the Caribbean and Latin America.<\/p>\n

Las Iguanas, the new Nicklaus design in Cap Cana<\/h2>\n

During his tour, Nicklaus followed the construction progress at Las Iguanas, reviewing aspects related to the design and development of the course, conceived to blend into the natural surroundings of the enclave and broaden the golf offering of the Ciudad Destino.<\/p>\n

The layout will be completed to its full 18 holes by the end of 2026, nine of which are already up and running. Its development incorporates the vision of Jack Nicklaus and his design team, keeping integration with the landscape and the natural features of the terrain as guiding principles.<\/p>\n

“We are back now, fully committed”<\/h2>\n

During his address, Jack Nicklaus said: “Las Iguanas was partially finished and now we are completing the course. Punta Espada, for its part, has always been an excellent golf course, which was extraordinarily well received from the outset, and we are very proud of that.”<\/p>\n

He added that he loves working with the Hazoury family, as they have always been hugely supportive of the work done at Nicklaus Design, and the team seeks to return that support in kind. “We are back now, with our whole team and fully committed to this new stage,” he concluded.<\/p>\n

For Fernando Hazoury, chairman of the board of Cap Cana, the presence of Jack Nicklaus and his team is a recognition of the road travelled by the Ciudad Destino and of the long-term vision that has shaped its development.<\/p>\n

We have proven our ability to host international events such as the ATP Challenger 175 and the Ironman 70.3, and we continue to create the conditions for different sporting disciplines to find in Cap Cana an ideal destination to compete, train, enjoy and return to,” he added.<\/p>\n
