The issue you are holding in your hands – Andalucía Golf (AG) / España Golf (EG) – is now 25 years old. Almost nothing. A whole life.
Twenty-five years at the service of golf and tourism in Andalucía. Twenty-five years promoting and spreading the word about a segment that is essential to the region’s main industry. Twenty-five years that have enabled us to be witnesses to – and on many occasion the protagonists of – innumerable sporting events in Andalucía: all 21 Volvo Masters, the first event to have its own daily bulletin (produced by us, of course); the 1997 Ryder Cup; the American Express World Golf Championships; the Andalucian Opens; and the Spanish Opens held in this region…
Over the years we have seen first-hand the evolution of our golf amenities, their growth and development; and, let’s be frank, we have also witnessed some serious mistakes, the blindness of certain institutions and authorities that haven’t been able to grasp just how important golf is to Andalucía. (At times, some golf course owners and managers have shown, with their short-sighted and tight-fisted attitudes, that they don’t need to envy anyone when it comes to doing things badly.) In any event, during the past 25 years there have been more positives than negatives – more good than bad practices.
In parallel with golf in our region we also have grown and evolved. Our golf magazine is the oldest in Spain, the one with the best pedigree, the only bilingual publication, with the highest print run and distribution, the most effective influence and penetration, and the only one that is well-known and highly-regarded outside our borders. With that in mind, and as we celebrate our silver anniversary, we have decided to take another major step and, in addition to the printed magazine, publish an online version that is a worthy complement to the original. From now on AG/EG will travel on two paths: print and digital. The latter will enable us to undertake an even more ambitious schedule of promotion for the Andalucian and Spanish golf tourism sectors: through newsletters and links reaching tens of thousands of golf industry professionals, specialist tour operators and other industry representatives, as well as millions of golfers throughout the world.
We will be dealing directly with those at the source of our golf tourism markets, the key representatives who decide and have a major influence over the holiday decisions of millions of golfers around the world. To that end, we have reached exclusive agreements with the premier tour operator associations and specialist press, as well as with the PGAs of Europe.
After 25 years, we are more alive than ever and ready, as always, to make a contribution to the recovery of a sector that is at last seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
