Marbella revives a historic tradition with the 1st Municipal Tournament of the San Bernabé Fair, the premier golf in Marbella event reserved exclusively for residents registered in the city. The competition, promoted by the City Council in collaboration with Club de Golf Marbella, will take place on June 14th at Higuerón Marbella Golf Resort with a maximum of 120 places available.

The Sports Councillor, Lisandro Vieytes, presented the tournament highlighting that the competition, with a tee-off time of 09:00, is directed exclusively at residents registered in the city: “So that it becomes again a reference event for local fans of this discipline.” The councillor emphasised “the importance of recovering a historic tournament for Marbella, a city deeply linked to sport and, especially, to golf.” Registrations are now open and must be completed through the Golf Directo application. Participants must be federated. The event is part of the City Council’s commitment to promoting golf in Marbella as a hallmark of the city.
Format, price and registration
The playing format will be individual stableford. The entry fee is 60 euros and includes a green fee plus buggy, a complete welcome pack, refreshments during the day and a cocktail after the prize-giving ceremony. Special prizes will also be awarded for the longest drive and nearest the pin, with additional prize draws for all participants.
Higuerón Golf Resort, venue for golf in Marbella
The tournament will be played at Higuerón Marbella Golf Resort, opened in 1994 and located very close to the centre of Marbella. Vieytes explained: “We wanted the championship to be held at a top-class course and there could be no better place than Higuerón Marbella Golf Resort, which currently offers extraordinary conditions.”
The club’s Marketing and Sales Director, Satu Kääriäinen, noted that “it is a privilege to host this municipal tournament at our course.” Players will be able to enjoy “spectacular sea views from virtually every hole, which makes playing here a truly privileged experience.” A perfect day to enjoy golf in Marbella in the best possible conditions.

The president of Club de Golf Marbella, José María Gil, expressed his gratitude for the institutional collaboration: “Our club, founded in 1990, has been working for many years to promote golf among local enthusiasts and this tournament was a dream we had been pursuing for a long time.” Gil highlighted the social nature of the event and was confident about its success: “With only 120 places we are sure the championship will fill up quickly.”
