Brutal assault with golf club could cost him 20 years in prison

Unheard of things happen on a golf course, but very rarely does a player get assaulted, let alone one as brutal as the one suffered by a 27-year-old at Indian Creek Golf Club in Carrollton, Texas. Michael Plumlee’s assailant, Kevin Keo Sivilay, could face up to 20 years in prison for repeatedly and extremely violently assaulting the victim with a golf club to the head.

He is charged with aggravated assault with the use of a deadly weapon. It happened on the 17th hole. Plumlee and his party mates were on the green without finishing the hole when Sivilay and his party mates hit their balls from the fairway onto the green.

Plumlee threw Sivilay’s ball off the green and that unleashed Sivilay’s wrath. Witnesses to the attack said that Sivilay hit the young man several times in the back of the head with one of his irons, continuing the attack even when he was already lying on the grass with serious injuries.

Rushed to the hospital, he was diagnosed with a fractured skull, and police confiscated several of the defendant’s golf clubs to determine which one was used in the assault.

Sivilay has a police record for car theft.
