San Miguel Andalucía golf amateur circuit continues to reap success
The open amateur circuit, organized by the magazine Andalucía Golf / España Golf, which had a spectacular start at Finca Cortesín, venue of the Solheim Cup 2023, continues to satisfy the golf hunger of amateurs, who enjoy great courses and a great sporting atmosphere in each tournament.
The three winners of each category (First and Second) and the scratch winner of each event get their place to play the Grand Final of the Circuit on September 20 at San Roque Golf & Resort. That same night, during the gala dinner at the Occidental Puerto Banús hotel, the five winners of the trip to the Dominican Republic will be announced. They will enjoy a dream week with Air Europa flights and accommodation at the Sunscape Dominicus La Romana hotel (Hyatt), playing at the spectacular courses of Dye Fore, The Links, PGA Ocean’s 4 and Punta Espada.
These five will be joined by a sixth player through a draw among Air Europa’s SUMA program members, as well as a small group of players who will join through the option of purchasing the travel package. The experience will run from October 29 to November 7.
La cañada, new test of this amateur circuit
The emblematic Club de Golf La Cañada de San Roque hosted a new round of the Circuit, which brought together numerous players in search of a direct pass to the grand final. Registrations were completed a week in advance and there were players on the waiting list who were unable to participate. The tournament started at 7:40 a.m. in order of handicap, with tee-offs every 9 minutes until 9 a.m., after which tee-offs were every 10 minutes.
Thanks to this and to the punctuality of the departures, the 174 players were able to finish with daylight, precisely on the eve of the changeover to daylight saving time. The club’s restaurant once again hosted a fantastic cocktail party prior to the awards ceremony and gift drawing. There were San Miguel beers and Solán de Cabras waters on the course and at the awards cocktail.
On the 14th tee, the players were given a gift by Hospital Recoletas to show them their facilities in Marbella. The high level of play among the participants was remarkable, with 18 players below handicap 5.
The presentation was made by the director of La Cañada Golf Club, Jaime Ravina. All the winners received gifts of wines from La Navarra Group and golf apparel from the best golf store in Marbella, Fairway + Blue.

Azata Golf
The Azata Golf course, in Estepona, was the brilliant setting for a new and outstanding event of the Circuit. The day brought together a large number of players, who competed in Individual Stableford format in conditions that, despite the previous rains, allowed a good development of the game. The lower areas of the course still had some humidity, but the greens were in excellent condition, as usual in this young layout, which was highly appreciated by the participants.
The awards ceremony was presented by Lidia Muñoz, the club’s new manager, with the collaboration of Gabriela Jones, from the Fairway + Blue store, a sponsor that once again provided attractive golf apparel for the winners. The prizes were completed with cases of wine from Grupo La Navarra and commemorative trophies.
Prior to the awards ceremony, the players enjoyed a lunch served by the Pez en el Agua beach restaurant, which manages the catering in Azata. The menu included various starters, salads, a main course of ribs and dessert, in a relaxed atmosphere of camaraderie among the participants.

Real club Las Brisas
The Real Club de Golf Las Brisas was the perfect setting for a new qualifying round of the Circuit. The event was a complete success, with a small number of visiting players having the privilege of sharing the event with members who filled the quota of places available for a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start.
The prestigious course located in the Marbella Golf Valley delighted all the players and, even more, those who had not enjoyed this exceptional golf course before and were amazed.
The pace of play was optimal and the morning was perfect in weather conditions. The players enjoyed San Miguel beers, and Solán de Cabras water and fruit drinks during the round and at the cocktail served before the awards ceremony.
The organization, led by Ricardo de Miguel and Nicolás Siviero, was impeccable. There was a welcome pack, with Bridgestone balls, an energy bar and a cap courtesy of Hospital Recoletas Salud Marbella.
Prizes included trophies, Marco Real and Martín Berasategui wine cases provided by Grupo La Navarra, Bridgestone Tiger Edition balls and Fairway and Blue clothing, there were raffles for gifts, including vouchers for treatments at Dr. Blum’s clinic at Sierra Blanca Resort Art of Healing (in addition to the 500€ voucher for one of the closest balls) with a value from 150 to 300€.

Estepona Golf, a key part of the San Miguel Andalucía Golf Challenge
The Estepona Golf course hosted in an outstanding way a new round of the Circuit, which continues to reap a great success of participation and competitive level in this its fifteenth edition.
The day at Estepona Golf took place with an excellent pace of play, on a sunny morning and with a very full attendance. Regular players and new faces shared a dynamic and competitive tournament, with attractive prizes and an exceptional atmosphere at all times.
During the course and at the cocktail prior to the awards ceremony, the players enjoyed San Miguel beers, water and fruit drinks from Solán de Cabras. The organization once again shone for its precision and close treatment of the participants.
The tournament welcome pack included Bridgestone balls, an energy bar and a cap courtesy of Hospital Recoletas Salud Marbella. The prizes were composed of trophies, Marco Real and Martín Berasategui wine boxes thanks to Grupo La Navarra, Bridgestone Tiger Edition balls, Fairway and Blue clothing and Art of Healing – Sierra Blanca Resort treatment vouchers, including a €500 prize for the closest ball.

La envía, first time on the amateur circuit of San Miguel Andalucía Golf Challenge
For the first time, the Circuito San Miguel XV Andalucía Golf Challenge Costa del Sol Destination Dominican Republic by Globalia was held at the magnificent course of La Envía Golf, located in the heart of Aguadulce, on the Costa de Almería.
A technical, challenging and perfectly presented course for a day that shone for its excellent weather: no wind and ideal temperature. It is especially noteworthy the excellent welcome of the team of La Envía, with special mention to its director, José Antonio López Pérez, for his professionalism and closeness. Some participants stayed at the Hotel La Envia, enjoying its complete facilities and a relaxing SPA before or after competing.
The tournament began with a shooting start at 9:00 a.m. and culminated with a great barbecue during the awards ceremony, which served as the perfect ending to a memorable day.

Real Club Sevilla golf
The prestigious Real Club Sevilla Golf, venue of great international championships such as the 2004 World Cup, the 2009 Open de Andalucía and the Open de España (2008, 2010 and 2012), was the setting for the tenth round of the San Miguel XV Andalucía Golf Challenge – Costa del Sol Destino República Dominicana by Globalia. An extraordinary course with José María Olazábal’s signature, which once again shone with its spectacular presentation and course quality.
First class design
The expectation was high at the Real Club Sevilla Golf and the more than 90 places available were sold out in advance, confirming the great attraction of this Seville course. The impeccable fairways, the firm and fast greens, and the technical design delighted the players, who enjoyed a day without wind and with an ideal temperature for golf.
