The official presentation took place at Spain’s High Council for Sports (CSD) in Madrid, where the upcoming creation of a new Global Alliance of PGAs was also announced. The organisation will bring together 43 national associations and is set to be formally established in England next July. Spain is expected to play a prominent role within this international structure, further strengthening the positioning of the III TUMI Spain Golf Tour as a key platform for professional development.

One of the major highlights of this edition will be the Order of Merit, which from this year onwards will bear the name of José María Olazábal in tribute to one of the most influential figures in Spanish golf. Thanks to the agreement reached with the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, the final ranking leader will receive seven invitations to compete in events on the Challenge Tour of the DP World Tour, reinforcing the circuit’s role as both a competitive and developmental pathway.

The 2026 calendar will consist of ten tournaments staged across several Spanish regions including the Basque Country, Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha, Murcia, Madrid and Andalusia, as well as one event in Portugal. This geographical spread reinforces the circuit’s national scope and its ability to attract players with diverse competitive profiles.

Another new feature will be the integration of the Nin9rs Games, a team competition inspired by innovative formats that debuted successfully last season. On that occasion, the title was claimed by Atlas by Golf Lleida, made up of José Luis Adarraga, Alex Esmatges, Emilio Cuartero, Gerard Piris and Carlos Pigem.

During the Congress of PGAs of Europe held in Turkey last year, the Spanish circuit received very positive feedback from international officials. The future Global Alliance of PGAs will help strengthen cooperation between associations and improve competitive opportunities for professionals.

Speaking at the presentation were Ander Martínez, President of the PGA of Spain, who highlighted the circuit’s growth and the importance of the agreement reached with the federation; Juan Guerrero, President of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, who described the initiative as a historic milestone for national professional golf; and Fernando Molinero, Director General of Sports at Spain’s High Council for Sports, who underlined the importance of this type of competition in facilitating the transition from amateur to professional golf.
