Strange things often happen on a golf course but rarely attacks against players. Especially one as brutal as that suffered by a golfer in Texas.

Four friends were enjoying a leisurely round of golf at the Indian Creek Golf Club in Carrollton, including 27-year-old Michael Plumlee. According to witnesses, the four were putting out on the 16th when a golfer in another group hit a ball towards them. Plumlee reportedly threw the ball off the green, and during the ensuing argument Kevin Keo Sivilay (42) began swinging his club at Plumlee’s head, knocking him to the ground and continuing to strike him even after he fell. Plumlee suffered a severe head and back injury.

Police said Sivilay attempted to flee the golf course before authorities arrived but he was blocked by golf carts. He was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Police added that the investigation was ongoing and additional charges were possible.
