The Gecko Tour takes a break until January following the first stage of Europe’s premier winter tour. Since the new-look 2016-2017 circuit began in November, having changed ownership during the off-season, players have been able to compete in two 36-hole tournaments most weeks.

The final two events of the year produced a Swedish double, 20-year-old William Nygard securing his debut professional victory at Lauro in a play-off against Englishman Sam Connor (who had won the Gecko event at the Parador in November) and Andreas Andersson becoming the first player to make it two wins in the tour’s sixth season, following his triumph in the opening leg at La Cañada.

The ninth tournament of the season is scheduled for 9-10 January at the Parador, and the 10th for 12-13 January at Baviera. The tour concludes with the €50,000 championship final at Finca Cortesín from 5 to 7 March.
