Golfers teeing up in the first Andalucía Golf tournament of the year enjoyed the Costa del Sol’s famed Mediterranean winter weather, an Atalaya Old Course in excellent condition and a wonderfully friendly ambience.
After competing on this renowned course designed by Bernhard Von Limburger and inaugurated in 1967, Spanish and foreign players alike adjourned to the clubhouse for lunch and the eagerly awaited trophy presentation, as well as numerous great gifts from the sponsors: fairway+blue, Tom Tom, Holiday Golf and D.O. Somontano wines.
The prize-giving ceremony was presided over by Andalucía Golf publisher Antonio Sánchez and Gabriella Johne, executive manager of the fairway+blue boutique.
As for the results… Alexandre Gontchenkov headed category one with 37 points, the same total as second-placed Jonas Siljestrom, while David Hamilton was third (35). Jan Policki (41) won the main category two prize, Francisco Carrillo (36) was second and Garry Cotterill (36) was third.
The scratch winner was Alexandre Gontchenkov, María Libert won the special prize for both closest to the pin and women’s longest drive, and Francisco Carrillo collected the men’s longest drive prize.
