Royal Guadalhorce Golf Club hosted a resoundingly successful 12th leg of the 2020 Andalucía Golf Challenge-Destination Dominican Republic Ocean’s 4 Bahía Príncipe Circuit, which this year celebrates its 10th anniversary and is being held at 16 of Spain’s finest courses.

Organised by Andalucía Golf/España Golf magazine, the Circuit offers (as the main prizes) five week-long trips to the Dominican Republic including flights, transfers, all-inclusive five-star hotel accommodation and golf at three of the Caribbean’s finest courses: Ocean’s 4, Teeth of the Dog and Punta Espada.

The tournament at the popular club, located near Málaga city, was a huge success, with a total of 180 players teeing up, the highest number on this year’s Circuit. The competition was held as part of the club’s “Big Week” celebrations, and numerous members took part, enjoying a sunny day with just isolated gusts of wind during the mid-day hours. Those playing Royal Guadalhorce for the first time were pleasantly impressed by the quality and condition of the course, which has undergone significant improvements in recent years.

Apart from prizes for each tournament (premium-brand apparel from the fairway+blue boutique in Puerto Banús, DO Somontano wines, sports equipment from Holiday Golf, etc.), the top three finishers in each category plus the scratch winner obtain places in the circuit’s grand finale, with the chance of securing one of the five Dominican Republic holidays including flights, transfers, all-inclusive luxury hotel accommodation, and golf at three of the best courses in the Caribbean: Ocean's 4, Teeth of The Dog and Punta Espada.

The top three players in category one were Eduardo de Wint Álvarez (45 points), Francisco Polaina Navarro (43) and Gonzalo Galán Molina (42).

Leading the way in category two, with 48 points, was Jose Antonio Moreno Rodríguez, followed by María Eugenia Ramos Arrenberg $1) and Fran Sorroche García (41).

The scratch winner was Javier Seara Prieto, with 37 points, the same total as second-placed Fernando Moreno Onieva.

As for the special prizes, closest to the pin was won by Tom Holmes, and longest drive went to María Dolores Osborne and Javier Seara.

The next scheduled tournaments on the Andalucía Golf Challenge Destination Dominican Republic Ocean’s 4 Bahía Príncipe Circuit are 15 and 16 September at Royal Sotogrande (all places now filled) and 22 October at Golf Santander (Madrid).
