La Monacilla, the Huelva course designed by the legendary José María Olazábal, winner of two U.S. Masters, successfully hosted the second leg of the SAN MIGUEL ANDALUCÍA GOLF CHALLENGE- Destination Dominican Republic by Globalia Circuit, which this year celebrates its 14th edition.

In spite of light falls of rain, which hardly affected play, the tournament proceeded in a great golfing ambience, with special mention warranted for the excellent condition of the greens. La Monacilla is a very flat course, interesting and pleasant to play, and suitable for all handicap levels. It also proved to be a wonderful discovery for many of the participants who were playing this magnificent Olazábal-design course for the first time.

After the competition, a cocktail reception was held in the clubhouse. Another highlight of the day was the superb collaboration provided to the tournament by the entire golf club team led by Ricardo Bescansa, with the invaluable help of Pablo Alcántara

Prizes for the top players included magnums of wine from Bodegas Marqués de Terán (D.O. Rioja) and dozens of Bridgestone balls.

As for the competition itself, the winners were Miguel Díaz del Morán Berdún (scratch), Luis Herrero Fernández (category one) and Fernando de Vega Pérez (category two). In addition to the prizes and gifts for the winners and top finishers, there was a gifts raffle and special prizes for nearest the pin sponsored by Bodegas Bernardino (cured hams) and Bodegas Marqués de Terán (magnums of wine).
