For the second consecutive year, the SAN MIGUEL ANDALUCÍA GOLF CHALLENGE-Destination Dominican Republic by Globalia Circuit travelled to La Garza, the only course in Jaén province and probably the best value for money in the world.

Designed by the brilliant Pepe Gancedo, the La Garza course is located close to Linares, where players enjoy a wonderful golfing atmosphere.

This fully-formed and varied course can be played perfectly well on foot, in a spectacular meadowlands setting. As a public course owned by the Junta de Andalucía (regional government), it is an excellent example of what can be achieved by the official institutions.

The course has nine holes, and golfers play two rounds for a full 18-hole game. There are different tees for the first and second rounds so that, even though the greens and pins are repeated, each hole is not played in the same way. For the Circuit event, there was a shotgun start at 8.30 am and another at 2 pm.

The weather conditions were diametrically opposed: in the morning it was cold and windy, with light rain that complicated play; in the afternoon, the rain stopped and the sun came out. Golf is not always fair.

At the end of the second round, a prize-giving ceremony was held with a cocktail reception offered  by José María López, who masterfully manages the restaurant at La Garza. The presentation was attended by the host club’s manager, Antonio Quesada, and was followed by a gifts raffle.
