The Real Federación Adaluza de Golf, awarded by the Faculty of Tourism of Malaga

The Royal Andalusian Golf Federation has received the Distinction of Honor for the Promotion of Training in Tourism awarded by the Faculty of Tourism of the University of Malaga.

The awarding of the distinction took place yesterday during the annual honors ceremony with which the Faculty of Tourism wanted to recognize the work carried out during 2015 by companies and institutions in different areas, whether in the dissemination of tourism activity, the promotion of research, job placement or training in the tourism sector.

The ceremony -presided over by the vice-rector of Institutional Policy of the UMA, Juan Antonio García Galindo, and the dean of the Faculty of Tourism, Antonio Guevara- was also attended by the Minister of Tourism and Sport of the Junta de Andalucía, Francisco Javier Fernández, who collected the distinction of honor that has fallen on the Qualifica Consortium, for its support for tourism research.

Ángel de la Riva, President of the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation, received from Juan Antonio García Galindo the Distinction of Honor for the Promotion of Training in Tourism, in recognition of the close relationship and continuous collaboration between the federation and the faculty of Malaga.

During 2015, both entities joined forces to launch the first postgraduate course specialized in Golf Course Management and Administration -the first class of which graduated last July-, thus betting on the training of professionals dedicated to this sector on the Costa del Sol, the area with the highest concentration of golf courses in Continental Europe.

In his words, Ángel de la Riva thanked the Faculty of Tourism for granting this distinction, emphasizing “the great pride, but also the beautiful responsibility, that this recognition entails, to continue collaborating to give prestige to our sector with exemplary professionals who contribute to the success of our tourism offer”.

He also wanted to point out the need to promote these studies precisely at the University of Malaga, in the heart of the Costa del Sol, where golf -beyond a wonderful sport- is an economic engine that we must take care of in order to continuously improve our services and, in this way, build the loyalty of our visitors with exemplary professionalism and a continuous increase in quality.

That is why -he stressed- the teaching work being carried out by the Faculty of Tourism is so important. We are already a leading destination in golf tourism,” he added at the end of his remarks, “but now we have to continue working to remain so”.
