The San Roque Club: Spain’s dazzling golfing jewel
San Roque Club is synonymous with quality. Located on the former Domecq family estate, it opened in 1991 and quickly became Sotogrande’s resort of choice [cite: 1549, 1561, 1564]. Designed by Dave Thomas, it forms part of the golden triangle alongside Valderrama and the Real Club de Golf Sotogrande [cite: 1565].
Under the presidency of Stephen Dundas, the club completed in 2020 a major transformation of the course, clubhouse and academy[cite: 1596]. The redesign improved the greens and reduced the rough, replacing it with ‘mulch’ areas reminiscent of Augusta National, making the project more sustainable and facilitating play[cite: 1642, 1649, 1650].
