Turismo Costa del Sol’s support forms part of the organisation’s strategy to further consolidate the province of Málaga as one of the leading destinations for golf tourism.
During the calendar presentation, Turismo Costa del Sol Managing Director Antonio Díaz highlighted the importance of the tour within the professional women’s golf landscape. “For Turismo Costa del Sol, it is a source of pride to be part of a project such as the Santander Golf Tour, which helps to foster women’s golf talent and strengthen the visibility of this sport,”
he said.

The Santander Golf Tour 2026 season will get underway on 27–28 March at Mediterráneo Golf in Castellón with the Birdie Challenge. Following this opening event, the tour will continue its journey across several courses in Spain before concluding from 12 to 14 November at Empordà Golf in Girona.

A key platform for professional women’s golf
Over its eleven editions, the Santander Golf Tour 2026 and its previous seasons have visited more than thirty golf courses throughout Spain, helping to advance the sporting careers of numerous professional players. The circuit will also include standout events such as the Spanish Women’s Professional Championship, to be held from 16 to 18 July at Club de Golf Castillo de Gorraiz in Navarra.
In addition, the calendar will feature innovative formats such as doubles tournaments and the traditional Pro-Am Leyendas, offering competition opportunities and increased visibility for both emerging and established players.
Tourism impact of the Santander Golf Tour 2026 on the Costa del Sol
For Turismo Costa del Sol, supporting initiatives such as the Santander Golf Tour 2026 helps strengthen the destination’s positioning within the sports tourism segment. According to Antonio Díaz, “Golf is one of the most important tourism segments for the Costa del Sol, and supporting this tour allows us to continue consolidating our status as the Costa del Golf and to attract thousands of enthusiasts every year.”
The Costa del Sol, an international benchmark for golf tourism
Backing the Santander Golf Tour 2026 is part of a broader strategy to further position the province of Málaga as one of Europe’s leading destinations for playing golf. The Costa del Sol offers a unique range of courses and facilities that allow the sport to be enjoyed all year round, attracting both amateur and professional players from around the world.
Courses such as Añoreta Golf reflect the diversity and quality of the destination’s golf offering, combining technical design, natural surroundings and close proximity to the sea.
Baviera Golf is another example of the appeal of the Costa del Golf, featuring modern facilities and layouts that have hosted both professional and amateur competitions.
The tour is backed by Banco Santander and Santander Private Banking as main sponsors, alongside Carmignac and Santander Seguros. Turismo Costa del Sol, Bodegas Homenaje, Mahou and PING take part as co-sponsors, while the Spanish Royal Golf Federation and regional federations complete the institutional support.
